Really amazing food and excellent fusion between Indian and Italian cooking

Went for lunch today. Restaurant was closed "for renovations", despite no indications on their website or phone message. Looks to be closed for a while.

The food here is very good, the garlic naan is especially tasty. I have eaten from both the Italian and Indian sides of the menu, and I was impressed with both and I always walk away from the restaurant feeling like I've had a good and filling meal. I have some anxiety, and when I come here I always feel welcome and the experience is stress-free, the staff is very nice.

I've spoken with several people who are curious about this place but feel strange about the Indian-Italian fusion concept. I wasn't sure what to expect but the Indian food I've had for lunch several times now was much better than typical. I have gotten the lunch curry sampler (butter chicken, saag, and daal makhni) each time and it's been excellent. I tried the rogan josh once for dinner and it was well made but sweeter than I like. Anyway, if you've been curious about this place, you should try it.

The service was great. The appetizers were clever and unique yet still very tasty. All of our main courses were very good and filling. Highly recommend

Extremely interesting concept. Loved the veggie tasting menu and our great server/manager, apparently this gentleman is the new manager. He was charming and very helpful with our selection of food and wine. Will definitely be back!!

Went back again and still loved it. This time in addition to the vegetarian thali we also got the aloo parathas and it's perfect. Wish we ordered more than the naan we ordered. Still haven't tried the Italian, but don't feel like we need to knowing the Indian food is so good. Our favorites were the daal, paneer, and saag. Service was also excellent and our server remembered us and even made some jokes. We will continue to come back!

I really enjoyed it. Food was great. Not very busy on a Friday night but that's everyone else's loss. Had me a delicious Saag Paneer to fuel for the Marine Corps Marathon. It did the trick for sure. I recommend!

We had heard good things about Duet and we know from experience that the owner, Atul Bhola, operates excellent restaurants. So we made our first trip to it tonight from our SW home and we were very pleased by the decision. The upstairs dining room is small and has a kind of European feel to it. Angelo, the maitre d' and server for us, was the same great host we remembered from his days at Masala Art. Everything we tried was tasty and it is hard to believe that any of the reviewers complained about the prices--unless they haven't been in DC for the last five years. The food is very reasonably priced for what it is--the Mac and cheese balls were really good, and the Brussel sprouts were at least a little different from other Brussel sprout dishes in town. The two mains we had, the Asiago Chicken and the scallop and shrimp fettuccine, were good sized and filled with taste. This is not intended to be haute cuisine but is instead a very solid place to spend an evening. We also had a nice chardonnay and finished with a tiramisu that was light and a good example of the classic. This certainly seems like a restaurant that should be supported by its neighborhood but it also merits a trip from other parts of town--it should be a good option for people who need to hang around Union Station for an upcoming train or bus trip.

Good food but place has too many mosquitoes. I think I gave more blood than the food I ate there.

I love this place so much. It’s a stone’s throw from Union Station and right on the way home for many Capitol Hill commuters. It has the perfect atmosphere for casual summer dining, amazing and attentive service and above all unbelievably good food. I was heartbroken when the old Italian restaurant in this location closed but it is back in full force with the same fantastic Italian fare and an additional Indian menu. Perfect for a happy hour stop or an amazing meal. 100% recommend.

Excellent Indian! Great flavors. Also sandwiches. 3rd time. Food is consistent. Only had lunch, but A+. Most starting is patio, FYI.

I was at Lunch at Duet. I am regular at Indigo which is 4 blocks away. When i compare the amount of meat Duet gives, its literally less than half of what Indigo gives. Tast is Ok. If they have to survive they need to increase the portion size. I would love to go more frequently to Duet as it is right next to my office. But the portion size discourages. This was the same reaction i have got from my colleges too.

We had a very good experience at Duet. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and had a great taste to it. The mashed potatoes were amazing and had a great combination of Italian/Indian blend. The patio atmosphere was great on a normal DC evening. My wife had the Asiago chicken, and it was very good as well. We felt the price point was a little higher than we would like to pay, but on par with the Washington, DC market. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely return!

So far the Indian side of the menu seems much better than the Italian side. Love the outdoor space. Tonight, 7/23/19, we went back again and got the Indian Sampler platter. It is excellent. The Italian side of the menu is still hit or miss. The grilled vegetables were barely cooked and there were no grill marks. The calamari were very thin rings, and they were chewy.
