My favorite bar in the city! Food is great and the service is PERFECT. It is LGBTQ+ friendly and they host drag shows weekly.

Local LGBTQ/LGBTQ friendly establishment found at the corner of 18th and U Streets NW. Outdoor, indoor, and indoor bar seating is available. Stopped here after the Capital Pride Parade. While it was crowded and business was brisk, we managed to make a reservation for an hour out. We passed the time at the bar. The espresso martini was especially good. While we weren't seated at the time of our reservation, the staff was very polite and communicative. I never felt as if we were forgotten, and we were kept apprised of developments. When we were seated, the food took a bit to come out due to the massive number of orders that were hitting the kitchen. Again, the staff were very communicative about the delay. When the food did come out, it was hot and delicious. I ordered the Beet Salad to share with our party of 3 (pictured in part; the total portion was divided onto 3 plates) and the Chicken Reuben (pictured). Overall, a good experience at an establishment with a friendly neighborhood vibe.

We visited this local gay bar during a night out in DC. We didn't order food just drinks and ther were good. Our bartender was very nice and attentive. I would love to go back and try their food.

I want to like this place but the food is really just not great--flavorless and just not done well. Both burgers and chicken have been dry and bland. The service is quite nice and that helps, but I wouldn't recommend

This place is absolutely amazing!!! The price, the food, the service the atmosphere here is the Best!! I had the duplex breakfast and it made to perfection well done crunchy bacon, eggs made just the way I like it, toast, fresh fruit. As you can see I have a picture of the after I literally licked the plate clean. The mimosas here will have you feeling great after two ;) our waiter was Katie one of the Best! Thank you for the outstanding service I will make sure to come back and see you again. If your live on the area or visiting make sure to atop in your won't regret it. This is one of the Best brunches I've been to in a while!!

I went here and ordered a few drinks at night and tipped $8 on a $22 tab because I always tip high. The music playing was bad and there was no DJ on a Saturday night so my friend asked me to request a song so I did and the manager was extremely rude and just told us to go somewhere else then, and then I went to get a coke which almost no one ever charges for when you order drinks and the bartender wasn't going to and the manager saw it was me so she made him charge me $3 so I didn't leave a tip because I had tipped well earlier and why would I tip on a coke so they forged my tip for an extra $3. 0/10 would not recommend.

Since my last review, I've branched out and tried other things on the menu. The food is consistently good. Definitely recommend the southwest burger. And still the tots. They have great fries too, but the tots are where it's at. We get takeout from here a few times a month now, and it seems like the service is always good. Maybe those first few times were a fluke? Either way, I'll continue to frequent duplex diner anytime I'm craving some good bar food.
