I was in El Tamarindo restaurant last night and as a frequent customer, I couldn’t believe the treatment that I received yesterday. I enter in the building. I sit at the bar, and I order my food, which was a chicken quesadilla along with a Sprite to drink. I had waited approximately 15 minutes plus waiting for one item and then when I was given my food, I was not given any cutlery, I asked for cutlery and what I had received with something in regards to a takeout order. I had received plastic utensil set, while I am seeing amongst everyone else in the building eating with actual silverware, I did not tip my bartender, because I believe that with the service that she had given me that night was just the epitome of disrespect towards me as a frequent customer. I will no longer give El Tamarindo, my money, and no longer will occupy that space.

We had to wait a long time just to get our check, and eventually, we had to go inside to ask for it ourselves. The service was not good—one of the servers only came to our table twice during the whole visit. Very disappointing experience.

Went here for dinner tonight, the service was fine and our server was super friendly! The ambience was fine and the patio was nice. But the food was one of the worst meals we’ve had in DC. The meal started with chips and salsa, the salsa was more just a big bowl of tomato water with chopped up onions. I got a chicken tamale which was incredibly thick and fluffy? The chicken inside was ok but definitely one of the worst tamales I’ve had out. I also had a shrimp taco which was ok, but really overpriced for 2 pieces of shrimp. My boyfriend got the vegan birria tacos which he said were inedible, he’s not one to waste food and left 95% of the plate untouched. The rice tasted store bought as did the beans. It was just a bummer to have such an unenjoyable meal and then have the bill come to 70$ with tip.

We visited El Tamarindo for Bad Bunny’s “No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí” concert livestream but little did we know we were going to be amazed by their food and drinks. Not only was everything we tried excellent but having a space to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month in this way was truly an exceptional night for us. Thank you Ari for inviting us, we will definitely be coming back to enjoy more!

I used to enjoy this place. Yesterday I ordered the beef empanadas and it tasted like they shoveled salt into it. That used to be my favorite dish of theirs. Yesterday it made me sick to my stomach and gave me a headache from all the salt. It was incredibly bad.

Great food - the pupusas are delicious and generously sized for the price. The pollo mole was great, and the rice and black bean sides were unusually tasty. Our waitress was very nice, and they were able to accommodate when one of my friends wanted to get chimichangas with chorizo, which was not on the menu. Highly recommend the patio seating if the weather is nice. Great place, would go again.

Sonia was our server and she was wonderful! Incredibly accommodating and quick service. The food was delicious and the margaritas were yummy. I highly recommend the 1982 platter - great for vegetarians if you adjust it slightly!

We had a team lunch at El Tamarindo yesterday and the service and food were outstanding. Our server, Sonya, made sure everything was just right. I had the Pollo Mole Poblano and got to sample every dessert. What a lovely experience!
