Came for the spa and had a wonderful experience! The relaxation area is a bit more limited than the Middleburg location, but same quality of spa treatments. I prefer this location since it's easier to get to.
This is 2-star hotel group that purchased a 5-star Mandarin Oriental location, and just fundamentally doesn’t understand how to run a high-end hospitality operation. The best parts of this hotel are what remains from the Mandarin.
The room service and trash just sits on the hallways for hours and hours. As opposed to someone walking through every hour or so and picking it up.
There’s no mid-afternoon/ evening room makeup. That may seem entitled, but it’s standard at every 5-star hotel anywhere.
Breakfast is $39 per person for a buffet that would roughly equal a free breakfast at a Holiday Inn Express. The breakfast room is chaos. Tables remained uncleared for an hour after the parties left.
Reservations come with a full price obligation if you cancel via the resy app.
Service in the lounge is slow and unresponsive. We had to find someone to order our food, to request our check, etc.
Not once did anyone offer to grab our luggage, nor were any doors ever opened by the staff in front of the building. It might make sense if they were busy, but that was not the case.
Add onto that the overwhelming price of everything here… $100 dollar valet, the spa prices are astonishing for what is offered.
The prices and cancellation policy indicate they’re less than profitable, and are making up for it via the customers.
Not a bad hotel, but again it’s passing itself off as what the Mandarin Oriental was and it’s just not that.
There are much better hotels at similar or better prices, run by enduring hospitality brands that understand the business. The Westin, Park Hyatt, Conrad, Ritz-Carlton….
At max a 2-star hotel.
Always a wonderful experience.. I’ve stayed and done the spa services many times , when it was the Mandarin.. didn’t think it could get better . From the new spa, superb service and always great atmosphere.. I felt like a princess .
Updated Response to review: Thank you for responding via review. We have left our contact information several times with the staff and front desk and tried reaching out to someone as well to speak with directly. I do think it would be best if someone from your team will initiate contact with us if you choose to discuss further. Thank you.
My experience with this hotel was very disappointing due to a serious billing issue. The room was already paid for however 3 unauthorized holds were placed on my debit card by the hotel due to a dispute between Salamander and Third party booking site. This was outside of the normal hold for incidentals and no one from the hotel contacted me about it. I only found out after receiving a notification from my bank about insufficient funds, which took over a week to resolve.
I brought the issue to the hotel’s attention a day after check out and the manger was already aware of the issue stating they released the funds but it will take 5 - 10 business days. This was a true inconvenience as the hold was for a substantial amount and it cause some major bills to bounce. I was told they would try to get a different manager to follow up, but after no call I followed up a few days later. I was told that no one in the next level of management had been made aware of the situation. I was refunded resort/parking fees which was cool but was a small fraction of what was being frozen. We discussed a potential solution to make things right and I was told I would be called back, but it’s now been over three days and I have yet to hear from anyone in management and I provided my phone number and email 2x when I personally called to follow up when to expect a phone call.
The lack of communication, and urgency from a 5 star hotel is extremely disappointing, especially since this was my wedding anniversary trip and we enjoyed the stay prior. I’m still waiting to see if the company will make this right or offer any form of compensation for the inconvenience.
Exelent.
We had the pleasure of staying at the Salamander hotel in July of 2025. Gonzalo checked us in and was wonderful. We had reserved a water facing room, but specifically requested a view of the Jefferson Memorial. He obliged with a beautiful room that was exactly what we requested.
Unfortunately our stay had to be shortened due to an emergency with one of our pets. The hotel was so very gracious in working with us, refunding our unused night. We were sad to leave, but we will be returning guests. The hospitality shown by this hotel won us over. While this shouldn’t be a side-note, the room and ambiance were lovely!
Must stay . Walking distance to everything no uber needed worth the extra cost
The bartender Pong provides world-class services!
This hotel needs an upgrade in terms of service.
1. There is no designated person at the front of the restaurant, so one person is cleaning tables, letting guests sit etc. This led to guests waiting in line.
2. Staff are not trained well for serving and are not efficient at all. All services were delayed on the night of the 4th of July. This night is expected to be busy, but the hotel was not prepared. This is seriously disappointing.
3. 5 starts hotel but only has ONE restaurant.
4. Guests were not allowed to sit outdoors because short of staff/lack of efficiency. Not acceptable with the name of the hotel.
5. Water in pool not clean.
Valet parking caused about a 1-hour delay on 7/3/2025 night
Getting extra towels took hours.
Other services were also very slow.
If you want ice, be prepared to wait for hours for delivery.
Breakfast area had long wait times.
Spa was fully booked.
The facility itself is great.
The overall fragrance throughout the property is very pleasant.
Nice pool.

Martaz was amazing. My family and I came in and were immediately seated and taken care of. The waiter was nice and patient as it took me a little while to decide on what I wanted to eat. Once we were eating Martaz was never far. Anything we needed he got us right away with a smile every time. The food was great I recommend the turkey bacon sandwich and the drinks were even better. Great place for a nice lunch and even better people serving it to you. 10 out of 10 experience all thanks to Martaz and the rest of the staff!
Great experience, lovely ambiance. Special shoutout to Martaz Turner. He is the Senior Operations Manager for Food & Beverage. He periodically came to our table to ensure we were okay. He supervised everyone accordingly and had a great personality overall. The waiters also provided exceptional assistance. I like the vibe of Salamander because it’s lowkey. I recommend the turkey sandwich and their bottle of Skyrise Chardonnay!
I booked my reservation late so there was an issue with my room being ready. They quickly rectified the situation. Room was good, great views though somewhat dated. Food and service was excellent. Spa was excellent.
Awesome experience overall!!! I've worked in Customer Service over 30 years, and my entire stay was OUTSTANDING
I stay here often. The other Day there was an issue with my reservation, my husband and I both called and emailed multiple times. I even reached out on social media. Nobody bothered to get back to us. Because of this I had to change plans last minute..As I was traveling out of state. Very disappointed.
Edit: still no one has returned my calls or emails , cancelled my reservations but charged me anyway
