Sambusa: veggie only, pretty good (4/5).
The dish with collared greens and meat was the absolute best (5/5)! Beef tibs with rice was decent (4.5/5) but I would get the collared greens in the future. Hot tea (lipton) w/ spices: tasty but I would get another drink next time (i prefer a simple straight black tea).

Food was great at this family run restaurant. We got there at 2200 and immediately apologized for arriving so close to the posted closing time. The owners said we were fine and that they had plenty of food. Three other table filled up about 20 minutes later. DC folk don't care about closing times i s'pose. They deserve your business.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Family Restaurant three times in a row, and I can confidently say the food is authentic and the service exceptional. As an Ethiopian living near Philadelphia, this is by far one of the most authentic Ethiopian dishes I’ve had in the DC area. I highly recommend it to both local and international customers as well as food enthusiasts!
