Filomena Ristorante

Had a nice lunch with friends. Service was very good. Portions are large. You can easily share an entree and appetizer for two.

I've lived in DC for over 30 years and Filomena is a consistent destination for authentic Italian cuisine. Now, if you're not a fan of a LOUD and bustling dining room, this is NOT the place for you. On ANY given night, at least 5-6 people will be celebrating their birthdays and you will hear the waiters robustly belt out happy birthday in song followed by the whole dining room clapping....sigh...my kind of place! Always warm, feels like a gigantic family gathering. Okay...I digressed. ANYTHING is good, homemade, authentically Italian. Close your eyes and let the flavors take you there! Generous portions of pasta, creamy delicious sauces, the most divine sausage I've ever had (and I'm a world traveler), delicate veal...get the picture? My top picks include the lasagna...oh, the lasagna...thin ribbons of pasta with veal, sausage and veggies in between the delicate layers, covered in Sunday sauce and white béchamel crème...and more than enough to take home...anything that has their famous “Sunday” sauce, Ossobuco alla Milanese. Go to the website and check out the menu. Bottom line...if you're a Washingtonian and haven't been...shame on you...they've been around for over 50 years. If you're visiting DC...don't let this be the restaurant you miss! (Oh, and if you have room...dessert is a must). (Oh, and they serve you your choice of sambuca or amaretto after dinner!) On your way out, don't forget to wave to Nona and thank her for her brilliance! She's on the left at the top of the stairs, rolling gnocchi or preparing other pastas for the delicious dishes you just ate!

We absolutely love Filomena's. It is a must stop for us when visiting D.C. Although it can get loud, the atmosphere and food completely make up for it!!

The freshly made burrata melts in your mouth. Lobster ravioli is overflowing with lobster. You won't be disappointed!!

Everyone should experience this restaurant. Best Italian restaurant in town. From Italians who know!

Nice waiter. The place is huge and the cram as many tables as possible into it. We were a table of 2 sat in the walkway from the kitchen to the bar. So much traffic and people kept almost knocking cling things off the table as they passed. Food was ok. Ordered the pasta special and the vodka penne. Veggie frites app special was best and part of meal. Waiter was lovely but the crowded experience, noise level and the table really took away from the experience. Glad others seem to enjoy it but for $42 per dish of pasta I don't think we will be back.

Just a wonderful experience overall. From the early correspondence with the GM Anton, to our server Arminio. They handled every request I had as it was my wife's birthday. Not only that, but they were over the top accommodating for my daughter with Celiac, to ensure her meal was prepared safe. They put her at ease explaining every last detail of her meal from preparation to ingredients. I can't say enough positive about Filomena. And I will be eating my meal for lunch and dinner again today. The portions are outrageous!

This place is noisy and very, very busy. The food was very salty, but otherwise tasty. I was seated at a table at an intersection where servers were constantly running by, setting up serving trays, and then running off. I felt very crowded and needed to duck a few times as the trays of food went over my head. I did not enjoy my meal as a result. Also, the table is very small and had a useless lamp on it (no light provided). All it did was take up space. The experience was just unpleasant. Service: My water glass was empty through most of the meal. It was refilled just before we left.

It was highly recommended, so we tried it. My son said it was the best Italian he has ever had!!!! Great service and amazing food - from the bread basket to dessert!

There were two of us dining. Food was excellent but I wish the service would have advised on the large portion sizes. Overall great experience!

Ordered pasta. Food was good but not great. Nothing special. The desserts, however, were spectacular, but quite expensive, about half the price of the pasta. It was fine but not a good value.

Our reservation was ready when we arrived for lunch. The ambiance of this restaurant is fun, yet upscale. The staff, wait time for food and quality of the food was fabulous! You will not go away hungry, because the portion size is wonderful.

We've been dining at Filomena ristorante for years. The food was great as always, but our server was less than impressive. This is probably the worst service experience we've had there. He wasn't very friendly. He disappeared for very long periods of time. It took quite a while to place our order. We were never asked if we wanted another glass of wine after our glasses sat empty and finished. Our plates sat finished for quite a while before he came back to give us dessert menus. Our water glasses sat empty for long periods without being refilled. We just felt kind of ignored. He also wasn't very friendly. Great food, very lacking service experience.

Amazing Experience! Your staff as always are extremely knowledgable. Food is always extremely good. Definitely will be returning
