Like all Firehooks around the city, great baked goods and delicious cakes. But what sets this location apart is the amazing courtyard -- no better place to laze around on the weekend reading.
I placed an order for Mother’s Day. When I picked up the cake, the bakery didn’t write Happy Mother’s Day in the cake like I requested. The bakery didn’t even bother on reaching out to me to let me know. I called they said they are not responsible for it they just place the order and they left me on hold for 15 mins. I usually go to the Capitol Hill location and this was the worse experience, I would not be returning here.
They started mopping the floors 2 hours before they close & moving furniture around super loudly. A literal shot of espresso took forever to make with no line. None of the baked goods are that great and the patio is crumbling. I wish I was allowed to start closing this early where I work...
My friend bought this red velvet cake for my bday and this was the best red velvet cake I’ve ever had! It tastes better when it’s cold.
Small bakery with limited seating. Range of breads and pastries.
Best ham and cheese croissant! Only drawback is parking is tight.
Honestly, I walked in here to sit down and eat a sandwich I bought at Vace Deli (a couple doors down), but felt compelled to buy a drink. What I ended up with was probably one of the best latte's I've ever had since leaving Naples, Italy. These kids know what they're doing in there! It was SO good in fact, and the assortment of pastries looked SO delicious, I ended up getting dessert there too and saving the other stuff for later. Some unwobbly tables would help, but the service, cafe's and pastries are to die for!
Good bakery items- fun stop for a treat

The food and service are excellent!
Great espresso and croissants. Tarts are good too.
The published business hours aren't actual. I showed up at 6:35 when all of their publications and media state they are open at 6:30. I saw the owner/ operator and all of the employees working in the shop. For the first 5 minutes they ignore my presence. When they finally acknowledged me, I waited another 5. I can get mot being ready to take my order but just opening the door and letting wait inside would have gone far. I left after 10 minutes of standing outside in the dark when they were supposed to be open. This is my second bad experience here.
Delicious food and beverages. Beautiful patio in back. For someone who cooks at home, it's always hard to pay premium for an egg omelet or muffin. Typical DC type cafe, chic, busy, relaxed gourmet.
Not the best value around, went for breakfast sandwiches with the girlfriend and the quality did not match the price. Coffee was good!
