Chill underground bar. We went on a Monday so it was pretty dead but we had a group of us and there were deals on the drinks, plus they were playing pretty good music so all-in-all, it was a cool place. I'd definitely go back again

We frequent Free State at least once a week since we live nearby. It’s got a solid happy hour, chill and friendly staff, and the vibes are always great. Trivia on Sundays is a fun bonus, and overall, it’s just a reliable to grab a drink and become a regular.

On dumpling they have is gyoza

Wow. The palpable animosity from the guy at the door to the bartender with the man bun was shocking. The bill was very reasonable and the bar is cool. But we were shocked by the antisocial outward disdain of the staff.

As a local, this bar just feels right. Utz chips and chill music... Kinda mad I waited so long to check them out

We didn’t have any food, but the hyper local and regional offerings were a unique choice. Prices were much cheaper than most places around DC, and the bartender was incredibly attentive and provided excellent service. We will certainly be returning when we’re around Chinatown!

Hands down one of the best, most underrated bars in DC. Incredible drinks and the friendliest bartenders. It has chill speakeasy vibes, and the music isn't so loud that you can't have a conversation. Definitely worth going to!

I expected, from the photos, slightly more sophistication from the bartenders. I asked if they could make a Sazerac (classic drink!) and was met with not merely a negative, but also a perfect unwillingness to entertain that this drink might be a valuable addition to their repertoire.

I resorted to a gin and tonic, and, well, those basically never disappoint.

Our conversation was delightful. For that, I will remain thankful of the hospitality.

I visited for a happy hour with colleagues. Drink prices were decent. It's a hidden spot across from capital one arena

Parking: There is street parking only. Find a public garage and walk over

This dive bar offers a solid selection of beers and cocktails with a great happy hour deal. The staff is friendly and welcoming, adding to the laid-back atmosphere. It's a reliable spot for a casual night out, or getting an after work beer.

Cocktails were so good and the atmosphere was super fun on trivia night - It was the perfect level of noise and crowdedness for a 31 year old like me, lol. Will totally be back!
