Awesome place I never would have found without friends help. Great spot for a date night or a chill night out with friends.

Great cocktails with a selection of beers for the beer-inclined, friendly service, a pretty good range of food options, all in a casual low-key environment. Couldn't ask for something more refreshing when everything else in the neighborhood is trying hard to be trendy and high maintenance

Came in for happy hour / an early dinner on a weeknight. We decided to sit in the front bar area which had an old school speakeasy vibe to it. There's also a dining room and a back bar area. While I enjoyed where we sat, next time I'd make a point to sit in the back area. It was open, bright, and sunny. Looked like a fun spot for a few drinks! The front bar was more relaxed and quiet (less party vibes) but still fun. The bartender who helped us was friendly and offered some great suggestions. After some debating, we decided to split some happy hour specials - the ten dollar dinner and fries. The $10 dinner is a burger and a beer. The burger was good, but very messy. It had almost too much of their special sauce on it, making the bun a little soggy and the burger hard to eat. The fries were delicious though. They came out hot and fresh (really the only way to eat fries). While Gaslight Tavern isn't all that convenient for me, I'd go back if I was in the area.

The staff is wonderful and cocktails are absolutely delicious. Matt can pretty much make anything you desire and then some.

Went last Thursday and had a BLAST. Bartenders were more than accommodating and professional (especially given that our group was pretty rowdy). Drinks were awesome. Space is beautiful.

Fantastic hole in the wall. The bartender, Trey, at the front bar...someone give this man a raise! He was fantastic! He went to great lengths to make me a fun, unique, off the menu drink when I requested something that wasnt on the menu. He even went to the restaurant next door to get a habanero (trust me I told him that wasnt necessary and he insisted!) He made my husband and I feel so special, taking time to understand what flavors and liquors we liked and which ines to stay away from. Such a fun date night and will be back for the service alone! Also super cute bar, neat outside garden area and cool old pictures and dark wood to create an old timey rustic feel.

What are you waiting for? Go check this place out! It's very pretty inside, with a classy art deco vibe, and the drinks are delicious. They had two cocktails on tap when we visited and they were both fantastic- lots of attention to detail and priced right. The service was also excellent and just my speed: attentive but chill. However, the real reason you must go is because the poutine in vegetarian!!! HELLO! And it's not mushroom gravy- it's a brilliant miso gravy! Soooo tasty. I wish the location was a bit more interesting, but the place itself is a charmer.

We went for some late night drinks and snack dinner. The drinks were great, and the small plates were so good we ended up overeating. The service was friendly too. He wasn't in our face, but was around when we needed. The young lady who greeted us up front before we walked back to the bar was really welcoming too.

I had no expectations about this place other than knowing it was relatively new to the popular Shaw area, and I'm so glad our group decided to check this place out for a weeknight dinner. The location is prime, near 930 club, Brixton, and the bar scene of Shaw but nowhere near the crazy crowds which I thoroughly enjoyed. As you enter, this place gives off the speakeasy feels with a beautiful bar and small tables, the next room is another gorgeous bar, high tables, and skylight ceiling, and finally the beautiful back patio with stringing lights, walls covered in greenery, and picnic style tables. Perfect date spot! They have a variety of burgers on their menu and I opted for the turkey burger with cheese, bacon, and avocado and a side salad..it was amazing and so well cooked! The fried chicken, and bacon egg and cheese burger were also standouts from our group. Definitely plan to come back here and bring others to this spot. The vibes were great, food was delicious, service was good, and location is on point.

Been wanting to come here for a minute and finally did. ABSOLUTELY love the ambiance of this place, very speakeasy-esque. The mood is set! Went Ti the back area which is outdoors but covered. It had rained so some of the benches were still wet (the ones not covered completely). Took me a slow second to realize why it was called gaslight and it is the smell that's soaking up the air. Despite a non practicing Catholic for 10+ years, it smelled EXACTLY like the inside of a Catholic church and to be honest, I kinda sorta really liked that smell. Either go to mass or come here and you'll know what I mean. Can't wait to be back!!

Came here over the summer with some friends and they served the BEST brie grilled cheese. Planned a hang out recently there just because of that food item and they took it off the menu Overall the space inside is cozy, and it seems during the week they're pretty vacant...but aside from that (and that missing grilled cheese) the place is just another average bar

My wife and I, after a very long week, tried the Gaslight Tavern for a drink. We love the so-called neighborhood bars, not too pretentious nor too fancy. For example, we're huge fans of The Wonderland Ballroom and The Good Silver. And the Gaslight was a terrific revelation. The hosts were super friendly, the service cozy, and the spaces... well, the patio is quite incredible: it's basically a secret pearl in the middle of U Street noises.
