Gatsby is one of my favorite places to go and recommend in DC, especially for brunch. The food is always good, the atmosphere and environment is even better. On Saturdays, I believe, there’s a DJ. The last time I visited, Marianna was my server and she was amazing! She was proactive about anticipating the needs of me and my party. She also went above and beyond to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. In addition to Marianna, Marcel, one of the managers, was extremely nice and helpful as well. He made rounds to all the tables to see how everything was going. They were also proactive when we mistakenly spilled some water and (I believe) David was promptly on the scene to assist. Truly a top tier experience.
Ordered calamari, shrimp and grits, and tuna melt. Bottomless brunch, tequila sunsets. Would order everything again. Did not make a reservation; can walk in the closer it is to opening.
Wanted to say that Mariah gave us great service the entire time! Truly enjoyed our time there and would come again!
Made a reservation for 5:30 today so unaware that there was a baseball game. It took forever to find parking all the lots were full and by the time we did it took 15 minutes to walk back to the restaurant. When we arrive the host (older women with black glasses) told us that it would be a 15 minute wait since we were late. We told her we understood; ten minutes after another gentleman and his ty family arrived also late and she told them he would be seated in five minutes. A younger host asked to sit my party at the opened table and she said no they can go upstairs. Shortly after she announced to everyone that there is a hold on seating people and the wait would be another 15 minutes. I asked her why this was the case, she said more tables need to be cleared. This is when she decided to tell me that my reservation was moved to a walk-in with us being late. Her arrogance and lack of professionalism needs to be addressed. Can’t tell you about the food or anything because we left; I wasn’t going to eat there after my encounter at the host table.
Please train your server Alec. He over charges customers. I paid twice as much for my drink and then had to tip 30%. A $7 drink will end up costing you $17!
Be careful to check your reciept! Went in today and was charged $14 for a happy hour drink that’s $7 and they said they couldn’t even refund me back because they already processed the payment. Why even have a happy hour?
We were given the incorrect bill, and when we politely requested a complimentary drink as a gesture of goodwill, the staff refused to accommodate us. Unfortunately, this experience reflected poor customer service and a lack of accountability.
I love the food here. And I think they do a very good job of pulling together a simple but solid menu. Sometimes, I find the food inconsistently prepared. But what I find consistent is that every time we are there, a manager stops by the table and checks in on our experience. This is the kind of place that is seeking to build a solid and happy return customer base.
Seems like there are management issues, because the food is inconsistent and the service seem … not rude, but reluctant. I would save my sweet tooth and go to any of the other restaurants/cafes nearby or to Mah-Ze-Dahr.

I went for bottomless and bougie brunch. The food was good and they had a nice selection of music. Next time I visit DC, I’ll return for dinner.

Laura the worse service ever. They will profile you and it’s sad that a beautiful place can have employees who don’t care and feel they are superior. I hope her attitude gets addressed.

GATSBY is the perfect mix of classic charm and lively energy. As soon as you walk in, the stylish décor and great music draw you in. I really enjoyed my time there with friends. Will definitely be back.

The Gatsby in DC had great drinks thanks to the excellent bartender, Marissa who impressed me with her professionalism despite the clear understaffing. Unfortunately, the menu was disappointing—limited options, a strange deep-fried Monte Cristo, and forgettable food overall. The staff’s composure was admirable, but I’d only recommend it for the bar, not the food.

The food was subpar and the glassware was not clean at all. The smashburger wasn’t a real smashburger. I will say, the service was great. I requested plasticware and was offered different food options, they just weren’t to my liking.
