I came here for brunch to celebrate my birthday. The food was amazing! I highly recommend the Shakshouka and the Morrocan Pancakes as highlights on the brunch menu. The decor and ambience of the restaurant was amazing! It took them a minute to seat us even with a reservation and not many people in the restaurant, but the food and vibes made up for it! Gypsy Kitchen is now one of my favorite brunch places in DC!

A Stunning Display of Mediterranean Flavors Gypsy Kitchen delivers an absolutely masterful meal that stands on the quality of its food alone. We went specifically for their proteins and were blown away by the execution of every single dish. The Lamb shanks are a must-order. They arrived sizzling, tender, and properly spiced. The flavor was deep and savory, achieving that perfect balance of a beautiful char on the outside and juicy, medium perfection on the inside. Simply phenomenal. The Branzino Filet was another highlight. The skin was seared to a delicate, crispy crackle, which provided a wonderful textural contrast to the moist, flaky, and incredibly fresh flesh beneath. It was a simple, elegant dish that showcased the quality of the ingredient and the skill of the chef. We began with the Fried Shrimp, and they set a high bar. These were fresh shrimp coated in a remarkably light and non-greasy Katalfi crusted with a delicious fresh made aioli sauce. The shrimp itself was sweet and succulent, proving they start with excellent product and know how to fry with precision. The service was knowledgeable and attentive, perfectly pacing our meal. The interior ambiance is vibrant and stylish, but the true star is the kitchen. In short: Come for the incredible food. The lamb shank are among the best in the city, and the branzino filet and fried shrimp are flawless executions. A top-tier destination for any serious fan of Mediterranean cuisine.

First time here and loved it. Mediterranean style tapas as well as some imported charcuterie. Best I've probably had outside of Italy. Cocktails were creative and delicious too. Last but not least our server was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely return.

Went for breakfast with family. The guys had steak and eggs and enjoyed their meals. From what I tasted, the steak was ok, and the potatoes were excellent. I had the French toast as it notes it had cardamom in the challah. Overall that was pretty meh. The challah was dense rather than airy. It was more custard-y and like a bread pudding. The server did note that the French toast didn't come with anything additional, but I thought it would be fine. When it came, there was only 1 slice, cut in half. So be warned that the serving is tiny (and $14). I didn't taste any cardamom, which was the only reason I ordered it. The iced tea was good, but we were never offered any refills when our glasses were empty. Service was pretty inattentive, but not negative. It was decent enough for us to try again and see if non-brunch food is better. Most of the Yelp photos were from their lunch/dinner fare and were the draw for us tryin them in the first place.

The food and service at Gypsy Kitchen are both top notch. The menu is diverse enough to meet all tastes and the small plates are perfect for sharing with two to three persons. My only (very minor) ding on the place is that the table seats aren't very comfortable. The large open space at the back means you can't really sit back and let the delicious food settle before going in for the next round. The restaurant tries to "fix" this by adding pillows to the chairs, but my pillow just kept slipping off onto the floor. Chairs with regular backs would be better. That being said, there are tables with different seating options, so just ask when you arrive.

I used to really love this restaurant and still do, but it seems like every time I go the food just declined and quality. Every time I go, they have a new seasonal menu and have removed many of the classic dishes that made them so lovable. They need to focus more on consistent quality of dishes, then trying to come up with new and unique twist every few months.

We chose this place for a girlfriend's birthday brunch. It was perfect— fun rooftop, delicious food, and great service staff. I will definitely come back.

We had a table of 17 people seated outside, and unfortunately it started to rain. The staff was super accommodating for us and somehow managed to find us seating inside on an already busy evening! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding when they didn't have to help us as much as they did. I highly recommend Gypsy Kitchen just for their staff alone! And of course the restaurant was beautiful and the food delicious!

We had a fabulous dinner at Gypsy Kitchen. We got a cozy booth, perfect for catching up with friends. Our hosts were patient when some people in our party arriving late due to transportation issues. The food arrived in delicious batches, each plate full of intriguing flavors and colors. I loved all the dishes, but the pork belly, halloumi, and croquettes with saffron aioli were particularly scrumptious. There's an extensive drinks menu, and I also appreciated the nonalcoholic beverage options. Our waiter, Joshua, gave us a great overview of the food and drinks menus, and kept us entertained with stories. It was the perfect spot to dine before a show at Black Cat, located on the same block.
