Good prices, good food, and wonderful service! We went here since it was conveniently right next door to a concert at the 9:30 club. But it is definitely one of my favorite places in the DC area now!Prices were extremely reasonable for the DC area, it ended up being ~$25 per person with a happy hour drink AND a desert per person with the ramen. Everything was amazing, the drinks were excellent, if a little dangerous. The ramen was, of course, amazing, 100% get the spice/veg bomb, one is enough for ~2 people and it adds a perfectly spicy touch. The deserts were also perfect, their new fried dessert bao was super unique and I'd go back for that on its own.The service was super nice and knowledgeable and really added to the whole meal (Thank you Eden).

I’ve been here a couple years ago and it really was amazing but since then the taste has really gone done. The ramen tastes like a diluted version of what it should be - got the spicy shoyu and there was honestly not a hint of spice. Sad because the vibes are great and service is kind and fast but after many tries I don’t think I’ll be coming back!

I had a great experience at Haikan. The ramen was delicious, with a rich and flavorful broth. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive, but it did take a while to get our food. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious bowl of ramen.

The food and service used to be very good at Haikan, but it's been going steadily downhill. Our server was very curt, last night, and he was basically kicking other tables out because the restaurant had overbooked. At this point, it's pretty clear that they're just coasting off their reputation

Haikan was lively and delicious! The kitchen is open format meaning active flames could be seen from our seats, so it was a neat experience. The tables are close together in that it's a smaller restaurant which made it hard to hear my partner at times. However, we didn't talk much while eating our ramen because they were SO GOOD. I had the Shoyu and my partner had the Shio and neither was a bad choice. The crab rangoons were super fresh as well. Definitely a neighborhood favorite now! One last thing I'll note that was such a nice touch--the owners seem very in tune with the diners' experience and it was appreciated that special attention was put into the verbiage on the menus about pricing and approach to each dish.

Really fun place for tasty ramen and fun small bites! We had the Amazu veggies, fish taco and the veggie ramen bowl. All were so tasty and well executed. Fish taco was tiny but delicious. We had Kampai drinks to start. Really festive and fun and the waitstaff was very sweet. Ramen was top notch and the small bowl was big enough for two! Perfect place for a quick bite before our show at the 9:30 club. Definitely going back soon!

We planned to dine at Haikan before a show at the Lincoln Theatre. The experience was great! The servers were friendly and wanted to make sure our dietary needs were met (dairy and meat free!) - the veggie ramen was SO good. The broth was savory and didn't feel like I was missing something by choosing the vegan option. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fun and dynamic, it was buzzing but not too loud. Service was generally well paced and we really enjoyed our meal (also had smashed cucumbers and my husband had the fish taco appetizer). Highly recommend and hope we'll be back!

Haikan is our favorite ramen place in the DMV. Great ramen, not overpriced, relaxed vibe. Great location by the 9:30 Club. Favorite starters are the smashed cucumbers and Amazu veggies. I miss the one with the pork belly and watermelon but hope to see it back in the summer.

Used to be great but their portion sizes have gone down and they're charging a 3% surcharge for increased prices. Service is inattentive. Won't be returning any time soon.

Probably the best one you will find.

I hardly ever write reviews, but I could not overlook some things last night… walked in, and there’s nobody at the host stand but the I am assuming the manager got up from his laptop at the bar to seat me (no biggie)Got water promptly, and service was overall ok/good.But I do have a problem with unprofessional “open air” kitchens. I’m in the industry and I understand plates get picked at before they make it to the table, but I was watching him garnish a plate with lettuce, and at the end, he grabs one little shred of lettuce off the plate my spring rolls were about to go on, and continues to eat it like no big deal… right in front of me. That set the tone for the place immediately that I could not overlook. The kitchen staff just looked bored and needs to learn professionalism. After the lettuce situation, seeing another kitchen staff take a discreet (but noticeable) slurp from a ramen bowl really wasn’t a big deal after all.Overall, the food was fairly good, but unsure if it’s worth a return visit.
