I made a reservation at this business, including inputting my credit card, and had no idea until we got there that they were closed because they are not renewing their lease.
I Went For Mothers Day Brunch And I Was Not Pleased At All. My Bill Came Up To $72 Which Also Included An Almost $11 Gratuity Tip And Our Server Wasn't Good At All Which I Didn't Appreciate That I Had To Tip $11. It Was 3 Of Us We All Had To Tip Our Server $11 We Could Barely Find Her. And The Restaurant Was Not Packed At All. We Had To Keep Asking The Hostess To Help Us And Also Another Server. We Didn't Even Know Our Server Name We Had To Physically Describe What She Looked Like For Someone Else To Find Her For Us. We Paid For Bottomless Mimosas On Each One Of Our Checks And Only Got One Refill. We Honestly Didn't Have A Good Time And This Was My First Time Coming. And Probably My Last Time. The Food Was Actually Not Bad At All But My Friend Had To Have Her Food Remade Twice Because Simply The Server Wasn't Listening To Us.
Reserved this last minute after another restaurant cancelled the reservation less than 24 hours from the reservation. So from there considering it was mother's day weekend brunch HalfSmoke gets 4stars. I didn't read reviews but my mother (-in-law) did and unfortunately HalfSmoke performed as many reviews (per moms) said they would. Personally everyone had a good time even if we had to wait because it appeared the wait staff were too involved in their own convos. This is our second visit (me and the Mrs. A mother herself celebrating with her mother). Sat at the bar the first time and it was the same experience. Great food. Great ambiance. Attention to customers requires some adjustments I will go back, fully understanding what service I will receive.
The food at the establishment was flavorful; however, the steak was significantly overcooked. Although I requested a medium preparation, it arrived well done. Additionally, I ordered my eggs to be cooked over easy, but there was no runny yolk present. On a positive note, the waitress was friendly and kind, although her attentiveness was lacking. It was unclear if the restaurant was understaffed, as there were instances when I had to seek her out for assistance. Based on this experience, I am hesitant to return.
We didn't end up getting our food after we had ordered. Server said that it was because they were making it "fresh" but I'm curious how making a smoked rack of ribs "fresh" makes sense to the restaurant. We did not end up getting charged and our server was kind but we sat for over an hour with no food.
Wanted to try what was rated as one of best HalfSmoke restaurants in DC. Everything we had was amazing. Our service was excellent and was really just a great experience. Would say go again anytime.
Need a brunch place with music to vibe out to? Well you’ve found the DC’s hidden gem, HalfSmoke. Service is friendly, welcoming , honest, and informative. Annyce gave us recommendations, that fit well with our preferences, giving us an awesome experience. We even had an above and beyond chef Antonio, who ensured our temp preferences were spot on! It’s close to Washington Hilton Hotel, making it an easy choice. We’ll definitely be back!

Visited Halfsmoke due to its proximity to 930 Club and the bottomless happy hour. Overall, it was a good experience - good ambiance and service. Bottomless happy hour was $35, although the website lists $30. All of the drinks were very sweet but weren't weak. Appetizers we served in very small portions, but our server was willing to bring more than one at a time. Others in our group ordered off the regular menu and seemed pleased with their food. This place is worth checking out.

Very mediocre experience. The service was very slow despite the fact that not many people were in the restaurant. The food was decent but lacking in flavor. Definitely an option if you need a quick brunch but wouldn't choose this place over the many delicious restaurants in the DC area.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. The Bustin Loose was very tasty. The drinks are good too!

I hope customers don’t tip the servers who work here the way the owner Andre tips Uber drivers….$1 tip for shopping and delivering your oil for 1 hr work and 20 miles driven….smh….
They give you your check in a VHS Disney movie case

The nice thing is the food at this place is pretty good. But that’s about where it ends. I had visited here before and was disappointed that about half of their menu was not available, but I held off writing a review until visiting again. This time, we were greeted by a sign that said “please wait to be seated”. After awkwardly standing there for a bit and being noticed by no one, we had to approach the bar for them to say we could sit anywhere. Why the sign? After we ordered, I had to use the bathroom. This is where the real problems started. After washing my hands I tried to use the hand dryers only to find both of them did not work. Desperate, I checked the bathroom stalls and was shocked that not only was there no toilet paper, the entire toilet paper holders themselves were completely gone! I had to dry my hands on those thin toilet seat paper covers. After returning to my seat I found that we had still not been offered any water, to the point where another host came to our table and asked what we wanted to eat. She thought we bad not been served yet since we had no water at our table. At this point I took the opportunity to explain the situation in the bathroom only for the original host to interrupt me and start speaking to the other host. During our entire time seated there was a cold draft almost as if cold air was coming back in through the heat vents. After eventually receiving our food we were not asked once how it was or if we needed anything else. We had to wait an unfortunate amount of time trying to flag someone down for the check and to ask for a to go box. After waiting a long time again we finally got the check but no box. The restaurant automatically puts a 20% gratuity on the check, which I certainly would not have chosen, so watch out for that. When we got our cards back I had to ask for a box a 2nd time which she said she forgot.
Bottom line - do not eat here if you don’t have to. We will not be returning.

I got the white sangria. Hated it. Had all my favorite flavors but something about it was too much. My fiance called it a liquid skittle drink but I think a liquid skittle drink would taste better. I had the netflix and chill with sausage and it was SO Salty. I liked the cheese but the dish is naturally high in sodium, so adding the excessive amount of salt sent me over. I don't mind salt, but even my fiance said it was too Salty. They gave him the last 2 ribs, which he said were really good. They gave him the please say the baby dish which my fiance enjoyed. I tried it and it was alright for a jambalaya dish. Either my taste buds were off tonight or I really didn't enjoy it. My fiance offered me other options but I refused to try them due to the 2 dishes and drink I had. I was turned off by the third time.
The service was good. It was quick. We came over right after a show at the Howard and they ran out of my original options so I settled with the Mac and cheese dish. I personally wouldn't recommend this restaurant for it's food. The vibe is nice and so is the music so meeting with some friends and chat.
I'm sure my timing and exposure was just bad timing, but I'm not interested in giving them another try another day at a different time.

Mixed bag. Food was ok, interesting, but NOT special, and over priced. For a smokehouse, the meats weren't special. Service was pretty bad and super slow. Also, they had issues with the menu availability
