Hellbender is a very warm and welcoming place with laid-back and personable staff. It’s a very relaxing place to spend a few hours on a weekday evening while sipping a tasty beer.I like their drinks because they’ve resisted the “fruity-pebbles IPA” trend that seems to have afflicted a lot of breweries over the past couple years. Everything they make is smooth, drinkable and original. Wednesday open mic night draws some really talented musicians thanks to neighboring Takoma Park.

Hellbender is a great place to meet up for families with kids. There is a bunch of space, outdoor seating when the weather is nice, and a child-friendly atmosphere.

Spacious bar and seating areas. Nice food truck.

This place is great with an amazing menu that changes constantly. Food trucks and events on a nice rotation too. However, beware of the families that like to take over the tasting room. It can be a bit much. I can see allowing kids during the daytime, but during a happy hour and before closing, it's eyebrow raising. I can't fault them for people who can't control their kids, but come on, it's basically a bar once the sun sets. Love the neighborhood feel but no one wants to hear your kids screaming and crying while trying to have a conversation. I wouldn't review if this didn't happen more than once or twice. Unfortunately, they lose a star because of this.

Love this place. Open mike night is usually pretty good. I should make an effort to be here more often.

I only tried a light beer but my son tried different beers and rates them! He also brews his ownTypes of beers and judges them! It's a hobby of him!

Tucked away in a little corner of DC, they provide an excellent tour. I don't drink, but I enjoyed the care and attention they gave to our tour group.

Excellent beer and such a chill and welcoming place. Went there on a Sunday afternoon and it was a lot of fun. It’s also very family and dog friendly. I’ll definitely be back.

Neat little brewery tucked away in the back of a neighborhood and fairly accessible off of the red line.Came here after work on a Friday and found it fairly quiet. Ordered a flight and found all 4 beers to be pretty good. The lime and salt lager was the stand out for me personally though, really refreshing.

Hellbender has become a favorite local spot for me. The beer is great, people are friendly, and it's a quieter location than you'll usually find in DC. Check their Instagram since they post about hours and visiting food trucks.

My favorite local brewery. Good atmosphere with reasonable prices. They have a patio which is pet friendly. We did trivia night last time we went and it was lots of fun. They also have really great food vendors offered some nights
