Many come for the sweet potato pie (me included), but the fresh meals are also delicious. The fried chicken was the best I’ve had in a long time—crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The staff are great too.

The food was very nasty fish taste like salt water salty 🧂 also they tell u that you can't pick the piece of pie you want cause they have to take out the rest that my dam money I'm spending the lost their taste and touch a older lad5 was in there she ordered they told her she had to wait for her food to get her strawberry 🍓 lemonade really but after she said something the young lil girl gave it to her they done lost there mind this was the 1 on u street food 🧂 salty and NASTY also sweet potatoes taste like can wasn't sweet at all green awful wish FISH IN HOOD was open I tell you people don't no good food I'll five my own next time just didn't feel like cooking SHAME ON ME when other people came outside wit there food they said something not going back

The food here was delicious. I was visiting out of town with my mother. She is a very picky eater and she even enjoyed it. I had the fried chicken Mac and cheese and dressing with gravy. 🔥🔥It was delicious. 10/10 definitely recommend. I will be back when I visit DC again. I'm only 2 hours away lol
Green had no flavor….hot wings were very hairy…..chicken wings were bland….fish was ok but the grease it was fried in was old….smothered pork chops were good,yams were ok but a lil hard in the middle….tea was good n lemonade was good …..pie was great …..

This definitely not my momma’s soul food..Don’t let the pictures fool you..Mac and cheese was NOT GOOD the collard greens definitely weren’t cut and prepared properly had literally stalks and stems it was a rushed job so greens in garbage it was literally inedible next the fried whittng was seasoned great but unfortunately the fish was so dry it was inedible next the beef ribs where tasty but was it the sauce that carried them???? The sweet potatoes delicious so I ate ribs and sweet potato and my wife ate off of my plate because everything on hers was in the garbage.. I hope that this is not the best that Washington DC has to offer.. i’m gonna go back next week and give them a second chance. Hopefully they just had a bad day.

The food was great. You receive a very good amount for the price. The young lady behind the counter was pleasant and helped by recommending dishes to try. Even the locals that were in ordering told us their favorite items on the menu. For some, the location may not be the best, but when members of the police force are also there ordering food, you can't go wrong as far as safety is concerned. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Not to mention, my mother found this restaurant on Food TV and kept it in her cookbook as a place to try whenever we decided to visit DC. Great selection, Mom!!!

Mann, this place is heaven sent. I'm from New Orleans and been in D.C. since Aug 17th, it's now the 20th and when I tell you I've been craving "real" food. Thanks to google, I found it! Thank you guys for reminding me of down south food. Protect this gem at all cost.
