Well worth the drive!! While visiting the Great Wolf Lodge in Perryville, Maryland I was in the mood for some soul food. I googled a few place by looking at the pictures, so Henry’s soul cafe in Washington DC caught my eye, Plus I was going to be in the area. Food looked good but I had to wait till I got back to my room to eat because I didn’t go to the one with a seating area, No problem though lol but I was hungry. All the sides were delicious, i got the rib plate it was good and tender. My wife got the fried pork chop plate and she loved it. So much food we was eating off each other plate.

Me and my coworkers ordered online. I only gave two stars cause my fried fish was fried perfectly and it was enough food to feed two. My coworkers also enjoyed their meals. But the low rating came from the customer service. The young lady at the front just seemed like she didn't want to be there. There was nothing but attitude, no smiling or anything. We had a time trying to retrieve our coworkers' orders, and even though when my coworker asked for one of our coworkers' orders, she never retrieved it. While waiting for one of my coworkers soda, the lady at the front just placed it on the counter and didn't say anything. The experience at this place was just bad. As a person who works with clients/customers the person dealing with the front should not have a bad attitude. I don't like giving bad reviews but this was not it.

They have good Mac & cheese and fried catfish . The service is good. If I ask for a cat with Mac & mash she only has to ask if I want mambo.

Good food, good prices. Was visiting the area and read reviews. Realized this was a place we wanted to try. Worth the visit. The only issue is that we realized later that there are 2 locations, U Street does not offer seating, the other locations does. We had to take our food back to our Air BnB. Wanted the whole dinning experience but the good quality of the food made up for it. So good, we went back for a plate on our way back out of town.Only drawback: no seating areaVegetarian options: offered several non-meat option sides: macaroni and cheese, yams, fried oktra. Not sure if they offer vegan options.
I really wanted some fried fish, almost as good, as back home in South Carolina. I found this hidden gem and it literally made my heart smile! I got the croaker sandwich and my husband had the trout sandwich! Both were hot and delicious! Thank you for your amazing hospitality!

The food was excellent! A lot of food and they got him to eat sweet potatoes. That speaks volumes.The lady that waited on us was very knowledgeable about what she was salting. Please calm atmosphere. We came from Philly for this. So thank you Herny's for a pleasant meal before heading home. We'll see you soon! ✌️

Tried to order over the phone before 5 nobody answered it was my son birthday was told they turn the phone off at 5 although they close at 6 got there asked for liver and onions was told they turned the grill off at 5 it was 515 got turkey wings Mac and cheese and yams asked for cabbage was told they didn't have any my son got catfish collard greens and Mac and cheese the next day I had horrible stomach pains and diarrhea I'm thinking either the turkey wings or Mac and cheese stomach was hurting the next few days hadn't been to Henry's in a couple of years my son had no issues not sure if ill be back the ladies arent very customer service friendly but thats nothing newParking: Hard to find parking have to chance getting ticketsWheelchair accessibility: It's not wheel chair accessable
This food touched my soul. Soooooo good! The mashed potatoes were insane! And the wings were delicious. My friend ordered the half chicken meal with a side of greens and mashed potatoes. I didn't get enough pictures but incredible! I will 100% be back!
