At breakfast we have a lot of things so we have a choice, there is no need to postpone so as not to run out of food, we can grill toast

I booked a reservation here tonight in advance for a party of 10. The customer service from email to arriving at the restaurant was phenomenal. We arrived and the ambiance of this place was wonderful. We were a large group of guys who value community, making a difference, serving others, and love quality good food! This place is a really good at taking care of you and making sure guests have a good time. We sure did as it was our first time here referred by a friend in Miami about this place. The authenticity of the food Esp the tacos were INCREDIBLE. The atmosphere was like you were in mexico. The service was outstanding. Thank you to all the staff, Clark, and Alister for making us feel welcome. We will be back. The drinks were better than allegory. Thank you for making a difference in our community and for others. - Table Church Emmaus Mens Group

An alright choice for a late night dinner when options are limited. I stumbled upon this place on a Monday night around 9pm and the tables were taken by a few groups. The bar was pretty empty at this point so I was able to be seated somewhat soon.Pros:- many options for small bites and sides if you’re looking for something light- food came out very quick (under 10mins)- Vanessa? The bartender was attentive with my needs and checked up on me often and refilled my water regularly- I ordered a burrito bowl which looked small upon first glance but it was really filling! I didn’t finish the whole thing. The corn in the bowl was also so sweet and refreshing- great place to meet people who are staying in the hostelCons:- I was standing at the “wait here to be seated” sign for a while and multiple staff members walked past me (making eye contact) and not seating or acknowledging me. I was very close to leaving for this reason- note that there is an automatic 18% service charge regardless of your group sizeOverall it was a fine experience. Would go back if I needed a quick bite to eat late at night! I didn’t try any of their drinks, however they sounded very tasty.

Nothing terribly wrong with this place, I guess I had high expectations based on other reviews. It's a hotel bar / restaurant. The drinks are expensive (like "hotel bar in a downtown area" expensive). We went during happy hour and got $5 cans of beer and $10 pre-mix margaritas that tasted like rubbing alcohol (m-f 3-6). The food was priced high, but it actually was decent (nothing special). The service was not great, but the tip was automatically added to the bill at 18% (it's a pet peeve of mine when tips are mandatory). I won't be returning.

I recently celebrated a private birthday at Hoja and the experience was perfect, i worked closely with Clark who worked closely with me to keep the event within my budget and made sure everything was executed correctly. The food and drinks were amazing! The venue ambiance was perfect for a private party - the unique artwork on the wall made photos from every angle look great! Would definitely recommend this hidden gem.

It was a week night so it was slow. Bartender was great. It's not TexMex, but it'll do if you're away from home!

I am writing to express my profound disappointment and frustration with the experience I encountered at Hoja Taqueria tonight. I had made a reservation for 9:00 p.m., expecting a delightful dining experience that included the ambiance, the food, and the overall environment. To my utter surprise and dismay, upon arriving at the restaurant, I found it closed for a private event. Instead of being informed in advance, I was offered a seat outside of the restaurant. This completely shattered the expectations I had for a pleasant and immersive dining experience. The decision to close the restaurant without notifying customers with reservations is unacceptable and reflects a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. The essence of my visit was lost, as I was deprived of the ambiance and atmosphere that initially attracted me to Hoja Taqueria.I am deeply disappointed by the lack of professionalism and consideration demonstrated by the management. It is disheartening to witness such a lapse in customer service, especially considering the anticipation I had for this visit.I hope this feedback serves as a constructive criticism, urging the restaurant to reevaluate its reservation and event management processes. As a customer, I believe in providing honest feedback, and unfortunately, my experience tonight compels me to leave a negative review.

Deceptively expensive. Nice atmosphere, good tacos, ok cocktails that are overpriced for their quality, and 18% service charge that bartender confirmed didn't go to staff, so you still have to tip on what is effectively a $20 cocktail (though deceptively listed as $16 on menu, which again is too much for their quality).

This was a HUGE surprise… such a hidden gem. Literally the best Mexican food I’ve had in dc - it should be it’s own free standing restaurant because I never would have gone in to try it if I weren’t staying at the hostel. They use Oaxaca cheese - SO yummy. The ceviche was INCREDIBLE! And a fun little vibe with little photo ops. It was empty when we were there and seems like people don’t know how tasty this place is but I would totally go back and highly recommend for the food! I wasn’t super impressed with the drinks but they were cute! I came here in September and have been thinking about it a lot haha! Finally doing the review because this place is so good!
