Some appetizers hit or miss. Very good gyoza. Sushi quite good. Big menu, will definitely come back for more.

Honestly am disgusted. I was so excited for this dinner. I had to throw out everything that had cucumber in it. One roll was rolled with cucumber. Another had cucumber inside it. Two specialty rolls in the trash. Because the cucumber was rancid. I had to vomit it out. It was honestly disgusting how bad the cucumber was and they put it in everything. Do they not have quality control? Serving bad cucumber that tasted like it had rubbing alcohol in it. Seriously wrong.

First time visiting DC and was looking for a spot to celebrate an anniversary dinner with my boyfriend. We both love sushi and this place showed up on the list. Got there early for dinner and was seated right away. I love that they offered the Japanese skewers. We ordered pork belly, beef, and shrimp. All were amazing! We wish we ordered more of them. Also ordered the Gyoza that had pork and chicken in them. They were good but the ponzu sauce wasn’t the best. I ordered the Sake Don which was raw salmon with seasoned sushi rice. It was really good and filling. This restaurant makes a great date night and the staff were nice.

Upon my recent visit to Izumi Restaurant, I must unequivocally commend their exceptional cuisine and impeccable service. They consistently offer delectable, high-quality sushi at remarkably reasonable prices.

Undoubtedly, I intend to return to Izumi in the near future.

I extend my sincere gratitude to Jimmy and the entire staff for their outstanding work. I encourage them to continue maintaining their exceptional standards of service.

Super warm and welcoming! Amy took great care of us and even introduced the dishes proactively. The flavors really suit a Chinese palate.
• Tried the new Shrimp Lollipop (4 pcs) – shrimp was super tender!
• Tonkotsu Ramen – generous slices of beef, rich and flavorful broth.
• Portions were filling, and everything tasted amazing.

Service was outstanding, and the vibe was cozy with relaxing background music. Overall, a very satisfying experience—I’ll definitely come back!

Thank you so much!

Amazing sushi! Everything was incredibly fresh, and you really can’t go wrong with any of the rolls. The appetizers were just as delicious, especially the gyoza and skewers. Drinks were fantastic too. The staff was so kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The restaurant was also very cute. 10/10 Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

After enjoying takeout from this spot via DoorDash on several occasions, I was fully prepared to write a rave review—the food, from the quality of the sashimi to the rolls, has consistently been excellent. So, when I happened to be out walking in the neighborhood on a random Monday, I couldn’t resist stopping in for an impromptu bite.

Unfortunately, despite there being only three seated dine-in patrons (with the majority of the restaurant empty) and what appeared to be sufficient waitstaff, I stood at the front of the restaurant unacknowledged for several minutes.

It was honestly a bit embarrassing—other patrons noticed me standing there awkwardly, while the staff glanced in my direction but continued with miscellaneous tasks, choosing to prioritize those over even offering a simple “hello.”

Eventually, I left—still unacknowledged. I’m a Black woman, and while I can only hope that this didn’t contribute to the lack of acknowledgment, I also don’t make a habit of supporting businesses that leave me wondering whether my identity played a role in the treatment I received.

All in all, I’m disappointed to have lost what was becoming a dependable local favorite. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the staff to consider refining their customer service approach.

I get takeout from this place pretty often and it’s always super fresh and the staff is friendly. Definitely a great spot for both takeout or dine in.

Update: I’ve been coming here for over a year now and the sushi quality + friendliness from the staff is still the best. My go to spot for a reason. They also have the best salad dressing. I don’t know what’s in it, but I need it by the bottle.

Sushi was fantastic! The staff are so kind and helpful, and they gave us complementary ice cream. The rolls were sized very well, especially for DC where the rolls are usually tiny. Will definitely be coming back.
Btw, for the one star reviews for the lack of parking, welcome to DC - parking sucks everywhere! That’s not the fault of this establishment :)

Absolutely delicious sashimi: generous slices that just melted in my mouth. I ordered the lunch special w/ salad & edamame that I took out. I’ll definitely be back.

It's DC, there is nowhere to park for less than 20$ privately, circle block 7 times till I found an illegal spot to park, walk a ways and get the food, pick it up. If you like eel, the eel bowl was great
