Always, always our go-to place. Don’t waste your time walking around when the very best is in your backyard. There is something for everyone and the quality and service can’t be beat. This team has been together for years, and there’s a reason why.

What a adorable little shop! It’s super small the inside not a lot of places to sit. I think it should be an area to sit outside. The ambience is welcoming and it’s a great place to do work and eat the food. Taste fresh and I love how you can tailor the needs based off of your desire, such as warming a croissant. The restroom is also clean and surrounding areas look neat. In addition to staff are welcoming and kind and very patient.

How do you beat a lox bagel paired with symphony? Bagels were exceptionally delicious and staff were amazing.

Lovely little shop serving yummy coffee & breakfast items. The barista was sweet and friendly. She even came from behind the counter to personally hand customers their order. The bagels were fresh & scrumptious. The cold brew was delicious and smooth.
Only criticism is it’s very small and the tables are close together, so getting around when it’s busy is difficult. Thankfully it was quiet the morning we went.

Charming, environmentally conscious shop serving excellent coffee. I love that the baristas exit from behind the counter to personally hand customers their order. A small touch that sets these guys apart from other cafes. I will return whenever in the neighborhood.

Apparently far too popular. Very long wait for order that I put in online in advance. It took a good 15-20 past the time it was supposed to be ready. They seemed to have lots of workers in the kitchen so the wait wasn’t due to lack of workers. There were also many people (at minimum 10 at a time waiting on orders).

Breakfast sandwich and coffee were good but other cafes in neighborhood are much faster (without ordering in advance). Lovely shaded patio.

Jacob’s Coffee House is a true neighborhood gem in Washington, DC, perfect for anyone seeking great coffee, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere. The shop is cozy inside with a charming, old-fashioned vibe, but also offers plenty of outdoor seating—ideal for enjoying your drink on a sunny day or bringing your dog along to their dog-friendly patio, complete with water and treats for furry friends.
The menu is impressively diverse, catering to a variety of dietary needs and featuring standout items like the egg white sandwich, lox & cream cheese bagel, avocado toast, and a range of fresh pastries and muffins. Their coffee, made with Illy beans, is consistently praised for its quality, and they also serve excellent matcha, chai, and seasonal drinks. Breakfast bagels, paninis, and the Belgian waffle platter are local favorites, and the muffins and coffee cakes are moist and flavorful—perfect for pairing with your morning brew.
Service at Jacob’s is consistently described as friendly, knowledgeable, and quick, making every visit a pleasant experience whether you’re grabbing something to go or settling in to work remotely. The staff go out of their way to accommodate guests, and the loyalty program is a nice bonus for regulars.
Overall, Jacob’s Coffee House stands out as a special spot in Capitol Hill—a place where locals and visitors alike feel at home. Whether you’re meeting friends, working on your laptop, or just stopping by for a quick pick-me-up, you’ll find great food, excellent coffee, and a warm, community-focused atmosphere that keeps people coming back. Highly recommended!

I’ve had lox bagels and matcha lattes all around the world and this is one of the best I’ve ever tried! The lox bagel had the most exactly right proportions of ingredients that all stayed together to the end, and the matcha was perfectly light and fresh with none of the burned bitterness that other cafes have. They really know what they’re doing here, and they’re all so kind and accommodating while serving you. Do yourself a favor and chill here, it’s SO worth it!

I ADORE Jacob's!! Their coffee, pastries, and breakfast foods are all great - one of my friends called their caramel Frappuccino one of the best things she'd ever tasted, and every time I'm sad or stressed (or happy and relaxed and just want a little treat) their muffins and lattes are there for me. And above all, all the staff are SO nice!! They've created such a warm and welcoming environment, making it a great place to both pop into and sit in for hours while working or catching up with friends. Genuinely, the worst thing about moving is that I won't be able to just run over here anymore. Thank you all for everything!!!
