Did the tasting experience (mid-level) with wine pairings. They accommodated a few food allergies, and portions were manageable. I was definitely full after the last course, but found room for dessert! Wine pours are small, but I felt enough to get the experience without feeling like I'd had too much to drink afterward. Overall, once we got going with the tasting menu, timing was pretty good between courses.
Let me start off by saying that I have visited many Jose Andres restaurants across the states and have always been extremely pleased with my food, ambience, service level, etc. so, I really wanted to love this place since it was my first time at the restaurant. My first food that arrived was received fairly warm. That caused the shrimp to overcook and the patatas to be soft and not crisp, but like they should be. The other top of us came out hot and was pleasant. The rice pudding was OK and I felt the rice was overcooked. Unfortunately, it was just a so so experience.
Jaleo as always has incredible food, and we all enjoyed all of our dishes! We were celebrating a special occasion. Unfortunately, our table was not located in a great area. It was literally right as you walked in and very cramped with the door opening with forceful wind blowing on us each time. A server even spilled a tray of food breaking some glass and food onto the back of the birthday guest. It was also incredibly loud to the point where we could not even hear each other right next to each other because the table next to us was absolutely raucous! We did ask to be moved, but we were told that that could not be accommodated, even though there was an empty table, not far. Normally, we are very understanding about these things, but it was unusually uncomfortable. Also, our server did his best, but there was definitely some communication issues regarding food allergies. But we did find dishes that were good and safe. Mostly it was just very chaotic, and could have been calmer.
We were excited to try Jaleo DC and decided to go all in with José's Way tasting menu and the wine pairing. Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to the hype. Most dishes were overly salty, and the flavors felt unbalanced rather than elevated. For the price and the reputation, we expected a much more impressive experience. The service and ambiance were fine, but overall the meal left us disappointed. Not a place we'd rush back to.
Always a wonderful dinner ! Terrific and warm service , lively , upbeat atmosphere contributed to a great date night . Love the oysters - we always get them ! The salmon caviar cones are unbelievable .Pure delight !
We've eaten here many times (post performance of the Shakespeare Theatre). The food has been consistently wonderful. As we normally share, we've tasted much of what Jaleo has to offer, though the restaurant keeps it fresh with new introductions. Recommended.
Food was all fabulous, we order our favorites every time and they were perfect yesterday. Service was kind of slow, surprising since the restaurant wasn't very busy.
The food was exquisite. We had a sampling. Every dish was thoroughly explained to us. The personnel was top notch and very professional. Recommendations were given if we needed. I would definitely recommend that you try this at least one time. We will be repeaters.
Fabulous food and excellent service (Potatoes Bravas always a favorite and was pleasantly surprised by the warm Brussel sprouts salad; Spanish omelet was also excellent).
There were six of us and we ordered several small plates. The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. Our ages varied from 7 to 70. And we all loved it!

Despite not being a fan of Tapas, the food was very good as was the service. We asked for the music to be turned down because we were underneath a speaker and they graciously obliged. Recommend it especially as a pre-theatre dining spot for The Shakespeare Theatre next door.
This tapas restaurant gives you the closest to authentic experience of dining in Spain as you can get in the USA. For those who do not know, the point of tapas dining is to order several (how many is up to you but at very least 3) items and savor each as it arrives along with your choice of a wine or beer. Cocktails? That is American, but if you must. I have never had a "miss" on anything I have ordered even when the tapas and/or it's components are unusual. Got a question? Your server will happily answer. They do have some larger plates but allow time for preparation as each ordered item is made as the order reaches the kitchen. The restaurant is popular so a reservation should guarantee a table otherwise you probably will have a considerable wait, but it will be worth it.
We tried the experience for two and literally we almost had to roll out of there. Everything was terrific and service was great
Food was generally good, although some dishes were over-salted. The cheese was served cold, right out if the fridge—it should be at room temperature.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Order according to server suggestions per person and you will be well fed!
