Stopped by for a quick bite and ordered nachos. I thought there was a relatively universal definition of what nachos are. I was wrong. We got a small bowl of tortilla chips with a few slices of raw onion and jalapeno, a few black beans from a can, and Russian dressing poured over it, with sour cream on the side. No cheese. Totally nasty. Waitress never came by to ask how we were doing. No idea how their other food is, but can't recommend this place based on this experience.

Excellent bar! A variety of appetizing options and a very spacious place. Multiple bar areas that allow for good counter utilization and multiple serving areas. Great drink variety too. It's never too crowded as there is simply so much room in the bar and they really have multiple areas that allow one to find the amount of commotion and energy one is looking for. Been here many times and love it!

Food was great, decent beer selection. All the Irish liquors you'd expect, plus many more. Right by the circle.

Right in view of DuPont Circle sits the nice Irish pub/ restaurant. There is a debate if it's. Pub vs restaurant'... it has a massive bar area but I feel it's a restaurant. Appetizer, entree and drinks were better than average - the meal was real good. Best bar is the Irish accents and decor

The food here was absolutely delicious. I came here with my friends while engaged in shenanigans around Dupont circle. We wanted a spot with great food and reasonable prices, and this restaurant did not disappoint. There were five of us and we all ordered something different. Not one person had a complaint, and frankly, my burger tasted like it came fresh off of a barbecue grill.

I have been here a few times. Always a good experience in a great location. Never been inside except to use the loo. Go al fresco!

My friends and I stopped by James Hoban yesterday during DC Pride and our experience there went beyond words. We sat ourselves at the back bar right away and ordered drinks and appetizers (the butter shots and nachos were amazing!). What really made our experience stand out was our bartender, Brook. He was so friendly and we were talking to him the whole time we were there. Unfortunately, there was an incident at Pride at the time we were there which caused almost 200 people to run into the restaurant within a matter of seconds, all in a panic. The bartenders, especially Brook, took charge of the situation immediately and acted as a much needed authoritative and reassuring presence. Him and the other staff members were doing their best to figure out the situation while taking all safety measures that would be necessary all while staying calm. Eventually, Brook went and talked to police to get an update on the situation and announced that everyone was welcome to stay as long as they needed to feel safe. The staff at James Hoban handled this unfortunate situation very professionally and calmly. We ended up staying for the rest of the night because of the inclusive and safe atmosphere that everyone was able to create and maintain. 5 stars for this amazing place which we will return to without a doubt!

Food was fabulous and the atmosphere is great. So many cool things on the walls. Service was not good. They were willing to split a dish and delivered two half size meals. It was great.

Very nice Irish pub style atmosphere and menu. Good selection of Irish whiskeys including a few high end bottles. Friendly and personal service. Very tasty Irish stew. Yeungling on tap. I'll go back next time I'm in DC.

Great location on Dupont circle. Limited draft beer selection but great irish whiskey selection. Good fish and chips

Just a complete and total disappointment. I have never had a brownie that was so burned before. The brownie I ordered was so hard I could not cut through it with a fork and knife (I am not exaggerating). If I threw the brownie at one of the windows it most definitely would have went through it. When the dish was brought out the spoon was stuck in the middle of the whipped cream like you see in the picture and the plate just looked extremely sloppy. A really poor and sad effort by the kitchen staff. Additionally, my friend and I sat at the bar for a solid 15 minutes before anyone came over to greet us or take our order. I really had high hopes for this place as I just moved to the district and was hoping to find a bar to call home on Friday nights but this place was just brutal.

This is a nice Irish/British pub food restaurant in the heart of Georgetown DC in Dupont Circle. I got a delicious stew with good quality lamb and a hearty broth. The shepard's pie was also exceptionally good. There is big portions and a decent kid's menu. Beware that the chicken pot pie is a little spicy (contrary to the waiter), but I personally liked the flavor.

Service was really slow during happy hour. The menu had a “ Special Happy Hour Cocktail. Ask your server .” When we did.. the reply was “ no we don't have a special cocktail right now.” I asked for a pretty easy drink, white wine spritzer or an Aperol Spritz and she came back with, “ Sorry we don't have to stuff to make that.” And suggested other drinks made with champagne. My group only had the appetizers ( one each) and a Meat/cheese board. A few vegetable with hummus and 5 small pieces of bread for the meat/cheese board. Very stingy.

Had a couple cold beers while checking in scanners. They had on a couple soccer games which the patrons were excited about. Seemed like a chill place to go and hangout. Only got the fries, which were great on an empty stomach.
