Absolutely avoid. We had breakfast for our stay at the Fairmont. The food was awful. We watched a number of people spit out their food. Buffet one day and menu day two. The menu was better than the buffet.

i’ve eaten lunch here twice and can confidently say the food here is terrible. both times the majority of the table barely finished half their meals. do not recommend. service is good though but that’s all they have going for them.

My husband had been here for lunch and found it excellent (if a little pricey) so we gave it a shot for Valentine's day dinner. the food was wonderful as was the service. Everything was delightful and we are putting this on our list of restaurants!

Very nice ambiance and friendly staff. Food was good. The crab chowder was really tasty and the fish was well balanced. I also recommend the truffle bread.

It takes a lot of confidence for a manager to automatically charge a 20% tip on a group of 8 when some of us had to wait close to 30 minutes for a fruit plate and bowl oatmeal while others got served right away (that they could have dished up from the buffet after we made them aware 15 minutes into the wait and the manager 20 minutes into the wait). Food was appropriate for what was served.

I asked for proof that the walnut bread was actually baked on the rooftop... I suspect not still waiting

We just had an amazing brunch here! Edgar took great care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. He was so professional and kind. Made us feel right at home. The food was delicious and the restaurant was beautiful. We will definitely be back!

The Juniper is a "greatest hits" buffet at the Fairmont hotel in downtown DC. Dining room is well decorated and appointed. We loved the bacon, eggs, croissants, and (especially) the fresh granola. Unlike most buffets, the Juniper aims for quality over quantity (which we appreciate). Fewer selections means a higher grade and better taste. Stick to the basics and keep the quality as high as possible. We'd encourage the Juniper to 1) give guests some room to enjoy their meal, 2) bring ALL drinks (including juices) to the table, and 3) remember guests' answers to specific questions (drinks, timing, fresh eggs, etc.) When we stood up to get seconds (after finishing our first plate), our "server" chased us down to pay. We politely told him that we'd let him know when we wrapped. Which of course, we did. At $40 plus tip, "servers" need to bring us all our drinks, give us space, and make those empty plates quickly disappear.

Took 45 minutes for our food to arrive and one main dish was still Missing. No one came to update us on the status and when we called over the maitre d' he never came back to the table. I was charged for a full buffet when it was my only option Terrible experience and customer service.

Juniper, inside and out, is a lovely, friendly, and delicious restaurant. The Servers were attentive but not overbearing; the food was delicious and coffee and tea were generously replenished, when asked. After a lovely lunch, we moved to sit in the common area where shade gave us another hour to enjoy conversation. I could not have chosen a better place for a special time.

The food was mediocre, the service too. Beautiful restaurant but I expected more. The reason for the 1 star is the service. My mother in law has multiple food allergies and was very specific she could not eat anything with carrots. She asked the waitstaff twice and the server assured her but when her plate came the consistency of the sauce looked like carrot and she asked to confirm with the kitchen. The server assured her but another waiter overheard and snatched the plate away. Carrots!!! Can't mess around with food allergies...the staff needs to be aware that dairy and gluten and nuts are not the only types of potentially dangerous food allergies.

The restaurant itself was really beautiful but the food was really average at best. The avocado toast was really disappointing so I wouldn't recommend that. As for the ambience, no complaints there!

Went for breakfast- menu was bit expansive. Really not much variety. Buffet had 3 pork dishes with no other meat options. Service was so bad for the type of hotel it's in. We ordered food as well and it was a solid 3/10. Not up to par and I would skip.
