We had a great experience at Jyoti Indian Cuisine. The food was delicious and well prepared, and we were genuinely very curious and excited to try each dish because of how nicely everything was explained to us.
And specially her way of talking was very polite, calm, and friendly. She explained the menu patiently, which made us more interested and confident in ordering the food. She checked on us with a smile and made us feel comfortable throughout the visit.

This place is terrible and be changing their prices all the time trying to scam people. And they are rude when you call them out and hang up the phone in your face! Worst attitude ever and they don’t care about their regular customers! Won’t ever do business with them ever again and won’t recommend anyone to go there.
During a visit to DC, a colleague of mine recommended Jyoti Indian Cuisine... The food was awesome and ambience was great... The owner is a very nice person.

Jyoti is a gem in plain sight in the heart of Adams Morgan and a choice resort for Indian cuisine for everyone in DC. It is just a stroll from home for those who live in Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, or the U and 14th Street neighborhoods of Washington DC. My wife and I have lived in the area for years and we've eaten in the best restaurants of all kinds across DC, the US, and the world, looking for excellence in food and setting, and also a good price. Jyoti has it all, and we often find ourselves walking there despite so many other options. The menu includes a full spectrum of meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes with different styles, including tasty Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Thali, and Biryani (I love the Lamb Biryani). Fresh, warm Naan complements all these main dishes, joined by a solid list of cocktails, wine and beer, including surprisingly good house wines offered for a $7 affordable glass and at a steal by the carafe or half carafe. Plus, the restaurant is very cozy and quiet inside and nice out front for watching the ever engaging foot traffic on 18th Street when the weather permits. Service is timely and attentive, and you might have a conversation with the owner, who regularly appears. Make Jyoti your home away from home for Indian food in Washington, DC, and you won't be disappointed!

If you order from this place via Uber eats expect your order between a hour and a half and two they are Very slow and arrogant
The worst place in the whole wide world I’ve been waiting here for more than 30 minutes just to pick up a order that I already called him placed and they’re not trying to return my money because I paid online. Please don’t visit this place.

I never really leave a review but this had to happen: *trigger warning- chewed food pictures*
We ordered Jyoti’s butter chicken on DoorDash no more than an hour ago. Half way through eating the order my husband chews a bit on what he thinks is rubbery chicken to find out it’s a curled bandage.
We call the restaurant and am first told there is no manager present this evening, then am moved around from person to a final person that claims no one on their team has a band aid or cuts in their hand.
So it’s either old food from back when someone did have a cut, or they are lying.
Either way this is entirely unacceptable, and disgusting.
Though he agrees to approve a refund through DoorDash, but so far thats still pending.
I am immune compromised.. so we are just hoping this isn’t something that gets me sick as well.
We will not be returning, and don’t recommend to anyone else. Bad and unsafe food, and poor customer service.
(The bandage has been soaked in the sauce and it so hard to even tell, you can see the strands from the first picture)

The murals are tacky graffiti paint, and the food has hardly any energy. the curry is not good. The vegetables are watery bland staples of soups. The dishes cannot feed the DNA living snake of the body well. Flavor analyst is low.
We had a fabulous dinner at Jyoti Indian Cuisine. The new management was very welcoming and accommodating. We ordered the butter chicken, saag paneer, ginger lamb chops, paneer kadi, chicken biryani and goat kadai. All the dishes came hot and flavorful. The service and ambiance were great and we would absolutely return to try other dishes.

I ordered delivery via Uber Eats. Worst Indian food I ever had. Food was stale and was stinking. 23 ordered 2 appetizers (veg pakora and chicken 65), 2 entrees ( dal makhni and paneer makhni), garlic naan and chicken biriyani. They gave gulab jamun for free. Everything was stinking like it was week old food reheated and sent. Definitely not fresh. Hope we don’t get sick. We threw all the food. We spent $120 USD, what a waste. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Amazing food and traditional taste. Will walk you though everything you want. Spice is perfect and will reduce if asked. Favorite Indian in the city

we ordered 3 curries, 1 samosa, naans, and laccha paratha. the order value was 135$
The samosas were stale and spoiled which was extremely surprising given they could have determined this by simply smelling the potato batter and this is minimum expectation of quality standards from a restaurant.
we ordered the curries to be spicy, but they were so spicy to the point of being inedible
The naans are extremely thick and not really enjoyable
to top it all for some reason if you order it from Instacart you don’t even become eligible to get refunded for the spoiled food. So better save your money
My order was delivery, so rating on atmosphere is neutral

We made a reservation for 5 on Saturday at 6p which we needed to change at the last minute, and it was no problem.
The dining room is somewhat small but cozy, and the staff is helpful and friendly. The menu is very extensive and obviously has a wide range of vegetarian meals, plus a variety of meat options, including chicken, lamb, goat, salmon, and red snapper.
The appetizers were fantastic and HUGE portions. We had Palak, Papari, and Spinach Simosa Chaat. We had a variety of entrees from ginger lamb chops, curry lamb, chicken Makhini, and lamb bhuna, all served with Basmati rice. The Entrees were good-sized and excellent. The prices, especially for DC, seemed very reasonable.
The one con about our experience was that the dining room was fairly empty (5-6p), and both the appetizers and Entrees took a little long to arrive. Parking is all street parking, and it is not easy to find a spot.
Overall, we would give our experience an 8.5 and would definitely recommend Jyoti for a nice Indian cuisine.

They charged us gratuity on a table for 2 without informing us. Their menu did not declare this policy either. Moreover, food portions are really less. When we disputed the charges, the owner got defensive.
