Nice food but very overpriced
The setting and atmosphere were fantastic. Sadly this was the only good thing about Kaliwa. I waited 44min for my food after receiving the wrong order all together. I cannot comprehend how they got it wrong seeing I was one out of the 8 customers at the time… and quite literally the only one wanting to eat their food at the wharf. I paid over $30 for Pad Thai that was unseasoned. The picture looks good but it was a great disappointment. The portion size was simply lacking and honestly I have no idea what was meant to be in the second container. The picture was taken before I started eating. I literally got a separate container with onions and a few lost vegetables. I would not recommend at all

A Culinary Adventure with a Dash of Humor
So, my friend from out of town swung by, and we thought, "Why not indulge in some culinary mischief?" Our reservation was set for 5:30, but we arrived fashionably early—because who doesn’t love a good pre-dinner snack of anticipation?
We were whisked away to a lovely outdoor table where the atmosphere was as vibrant as my friend’s questionable fashion choices. The service? Outstanding! I half-expected them to start serving us compliments alongside our food.
I dove into a plate of Chicken Pad Thai and Pork Belly that was so good it might as well have been serenading me. Sure, the prices made my wallet do a little gasp, but hey, we were paying for elegance! It was like a culinary United Nations on my plate—Filipino, Korean, Japanese, and American flavors all mingling together like they were at a global potluck.
In short, it was a deliciously diverse feast that left us both full and fabulously entertained!

It was amazing! We loved everything! The chicken thai fried rice was so yum! The wagyu fried rice yum. The pad thai great! And my bday girl said she could bath in the pork belly skewers! 6 stars!

Came for happy hour around 4pm. It’s posted on their website from 3-6 and they told us they don’t open until 5pm. False advertising.
Service was great but the food was very underwhelming. Expected more based on reviews. Ordered Wagu fried rice and it had no depth of flavor and the rice didn’t appear to be fried. Pad Thai was so so and pot stickers were very dry. All in all not good food.

Automatic operations fee and once you get a big party the server stops giving a damn since they get auto tip. Food took way too long to came and way too overpriced for the portions and taste. Going to take myself to any other restaurant on the wharf any day.

"Kaliwa???"

First time trying Kaliwa at the Wharf. The service that Andres provided was amazing. The food to die for, no wonder they have a Michelin Bib Gourmand. The drinks were also deliciously made. Will come back and try different plates.

We were well attended to by the waiter, very pleasant and attentive, however my husband and I felt very sick after eating the food, he had vomiting and diarrhea and I had diarrhea, something in the meal made us bloated and very sick... sad.

Nothing about this place really stands out. My husband and I were out celebrating our wedding, and we got mushy calamari.
The food is all bland, overpriced and some of it down right isn't good.
We spent $180 including the tip. The best things we had were the drinks.
I don't leave low reviews, I'm a business owner myself. But please don't spend money on food here if you can help it.

We were excited to try the food here. We were thrilled by the menu offerings and eager to have the mango salad for starters. We wanted a long time for our food when the restaurant was not busy. We had to repeat our order to the server when it was finally delivered, wrong. The mango salad was a soggy lettuce mashup with a few cubes of soft, slimy mango pieces. The salad itself was ordered with shrimp and tofu. Unseasoned shrimp arrived. They took the dish back and added fried, unseasoned tofu that was cold. The pad thai that was ordered with the substitute of shrimp and a peanut allergy came without the requested adjustments. It took another 20 minutes to remedy. Our table was left untouched, disappointed, and waiting for the fixed dish. We declined to order more food because it was a lost cause. We caution others before choosing this restaurant on the wharf. DC has so many great restaurants, and this one is not worth the visit.

Came here on a vacation with my fiance and his family, whom have SEVERE food allergies. Not only were they able to accommodate, but everything we ordered was absolutely DELICIOUS. 10/10 would come back again.
