Excellent hotel, very clean. Service is above average, lots of restaurants and public transportation within walking distance. Plenty of sites to see nearby.

Stayed here three times: for first, the last and never again. Rooms and location are great. Friendliness could improve a bit, but what I value most in a hotel, and the one reason for giving this hotel a 1 star rating, is the breakfast. I am writing this the first morning of our stay and I might be a bit frustrated, but there is NO breakfast buffet. The hotel offers guests a USD 15 credit (per room!) to use for breakfast in the restaurant, located inside the hotel. This is an absolute joke, especially compared to the prices one pays for the breakfast. Breakfast is only available ‘a la carte’. When ordering an egg, a pancake and a yoghurt, the total price exceeds USD 50 per person. Prices are ridiculous and an absolute embarrassment. Especially considering the portions they serve. This hotel is a big, big NO for me in the future. One down, five nights to go.

My 9-year-old son and I recently stayed at the Royal Sonesta in Dupont Circle for 4 nights. We were excited to stay in a King suite and enjoy the pool in our downtime, though it rained most of the trip, and swimming in the pool wasn't feasible (not the hotel's fault). The location is wonderful - there is a Bagels, ETC right across the street which made our mornings run smoothly as we had tons of things to do in the city during our stay.

Positive things to note: the restaurant staff is friendly and does the best they can to accommodate the guests. The bartender makes a delicious old-fashioned, too.

The valet service was prompt and helpful each time we needed to depart or drop off the vehicle, and I am truly thankful for that, given that there is not a lot of parking space near the entrance.

Check-in and check out were quick and painless. We had a credit for our room, which unfortunately was not communicated that it was only for breakfast, although the clerk made sure to honor it since we had ordered dinner and appetizers a few of the nights.

The gym is clean and well equipped for a quick workout (although if you are someone who requires more machines, most gym fitness centers really aren't going to satisfy you). If we weren't so booked with tours and site visits, I would have been happy to use the dumbbells and kettlebells.

The bed was comfortable and had enough pillows, and the linens were satisfactory.

Things to consider before reserving: This is a pet-friendly hotel, and it was apparent that the guests before us had their animal(s) as the carpet smelled like it had been steam cleaned but still had the odor of a dog. I understand these things happen, but the smell was very apparent each time we arrived in the room, and there didn't seem to be a way to mask it.

Our room was located at the end of the hallway on the 2nd floor, and whatever rooms were adjacent must have been extremely active as we heard the doors open and close (hard) often, especially early in the morning on the last day of our stay. I know there are not many ways to avoid the sounds of heavy hotel doors closing, but if you like to sleep in, ask for a room that isn't at the end/corner of the floor.

Overall: the hotel supplies you with what you need and offers overnight parking (for a fee, obviously), a fitness center, a pool, and a restaurant. There was a Keurig in the room that we did not end up using, and a mini fridge for storing our goods, as well as a small safe for personal items to be stored if needed. It is nestled in a great location considering it is just a few minutes' walk from the Dupont Circle metro station, near several takeout and sit-down restaurants, and offers an eclectic vibe throughout.

My daughter and I stayed at The Royal Sonesta Dupont Circle this past weekend 6/13-6/16. The rooms are beautiful, incredibly spacious and clean. I booked a double bed/with city view. Everyone was very professional, our floor’s house keeper Consuelo was amazing! So sweet and attentive to every detail. The hotel is close to very good restaurants, stores, the metro station and even a cvs about a block away. You really don’t need a car while in DC especially if staying in the Dupont area. Totally recommend this hotel

I was booked into the Royal Sonesta for a work conference taking place in the area. I was impressed by the rooms and facilities. Spacious and comfortable rooms, with lots of thought into the needs of a diverse set of travellers.

Fantastic hotel! Clean rooms, very comfortable beds/pillows, friendly staff, and the place is within walking distance of plenty of shops. During my stay, there was a wonderful street market on DuPonte Circle, with freshly baked goods, groceries, and tons of other items.

Shawn was incredibly helpful and really contributed to making my stay in DC amazing! However, every staff member that I interacted with had a really positive attitude and genuinely seemed like they cared about my experience. So, if you're going to DC, definitely give the Royal Sonesta a visit!

Location could not be better if you are into the museums. I walked everywhere or took a scooter. Union station was .5 miles. Walked to a Wizards game at Capital one arena. Wish the restaurant was less expensive and the 35 bucks a night hotel fee was a bummer. Still- I paid about 130 a night with the fee. Cheap for a 4 star hotel. Coffee on every floor was awesome! If you don’t like tech may not be the easiest to navigate. They held my luggage after checkout for 3 hrs for free. The staff was good. I have a hearing issue- veteran- lady got a little frustrated with me because I only hear about 2/3 of anything. My fault for not telling her. The gentleman who works evenings was polite and informative. Didn’t use the gym, but PF was in Chinatown. Close- walked.

For the cost and the location, this is an excellent hotel. A few notes about the room: The room was very hot and stuffy. You cannot set the thermostat below 65°F. Bathrooms did not have proper ventilation and smells/vapor would linger. Otherwise, room was very clean and modern. Lighting was very nice. TV worked great. Beds were far from what I'd expect from a hotel at this rate. Extremely comfortable and easy to adjust. Service from front staff was excellent and I liked the ease of checking in and out at a kiosk. With it's location a couple blocks away from the Capitol, I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting DC to walk the mall and see the monuments and museums.

Rooms: Spacious. High tech. HVAC isn't perfect.

Nearby activities: The National Mall.

Safety: Never felt in danger.

Walkability: Very close to main DC attractions.

Card readers were down so we got discount card because the line to check in was about an hour wait. Insane rooms. Customizable led lights, reclining beds, huge tv, bathrooms have no doors and are in the room. You can see in everybody's rooms regardless of the "privacy" screen. i could see through ours into other rooms, so i assume every other room could see through into ours. I will be accepting tips.

Rooms: Bathrooms are crazy.

Nearby activities: Next to capitol hill and all the smithsonian museums

Safety: Good part of town

Walkability: Next to ALL the tourist stuff

Food and drinks: The restaurant is Ok. we have discount so it wasnt too egregious but the prices ARE bad

The location is ideal for sports fans, the rooms were pretty decent but there are roaches in the hallway. Made my stay less enjoyable

Came on Friday the 29th -1st . Check in was easy and click the receptionist around 5 pm was great and honest . I always love Yotel and usually my first choice to go to but this time was a lil different. Around 11pm on 11/29 my boyfriend left something in the car & I waited by the vending machines until he came back …The male receptionist asked me was I ok and proceeds to basically accuse me that I had my camera out trying to take pictures of his computer or paperwork behind his desk . I told him my camera was never out and he told me to move . But he never said anything to nobody else right there… It made me feel as if he was doing this because of the color of my skin . 2ND SITUATION The next day my boyfriend went to the car to get my shoes and I was left alone in the room after about 15 mins someone opened my door in my room with out knocking and didn’t say anything and I peeked out while I’m in the shower and seen a side face feature which SCARED ME . I called my boyfriend and he came running but it was the house keeping lady that we never called to the room . She didn’t understand no English and we didn’t get a explain of why she came in without permission. So this is a rough and confusing experience.

Used this location for luggage storage, it’s close to union station and it was easy to book on bounce.

This will be controversial but I stayed at this hotel because of how good the food was last spring. They've changed chefs since then and the food is terrible now!
Raw cold radishes with salt and butter? Flavorless friend chicken and mash with way over spice collard greens? All of it was a huge disappointment.
Staff is doing the best they can with the menu they have but, the menu is driving people away.
I was the only person at the restaurant at 6:00 on a Saturday night. That alone should tell you all you need to know.

Kendra Hall at the front desk made this an incredibly bad experience. I just checked out and misplaced my hat in the room. She told me housekeeping could get it for me. She never contacted them. She said they will get it no problem.

After asking housekeeping, who had no idea, they called another person who also would not help. When I went back down again to ask her to please let me in the room to check, she asked a security guard to come up with me. She was extremely rude to me the second I checked out of the hotel.

The first room we stayed in half the lights didn’t work and the TV would not connect. Do not waste your money for the service at this very mid hotel

Nearby activities: Union Station, Capitol Bullding, great restaurants

GREAT ROOMS WITH THE MOST COMFORTABLE, BOAT SIZED KING BED. IVE YET TO SLEEP BETTER ANYWHERE ELSE. (Including my own bed. THANKS Yotel.) fabulous staff that make sure you feel comfortable and welcome. AND MERE FEET OF WALKING DISTANCE to the Capitol! WHAT MORE COULD ONE WANT. Only improvement would be perhaps a breakfast option that is complimentary and a bigger fridge. THANKS YOTEL
