Kinship offers great food that is definitely worth the visit, especially for friends and family. The desserts are amazing. The restaurant might need better air conditioning and parking can be a challenge since it's in DC. The staff is thoughtful and helpful in choosing dishes. The asparagus salad was a standout dish with unique flavors. It's a perfect spot for a special occasion, with outstanding wines, appetizers like squid and mushrooms, main courses including roast chicken and scallops, and delicious desserts such as rhubarb pie and opera cake. The signature roast chicken is infused with lemon garlic butter under the skin, which is a challenge with chicken but was well executed. Many guests have praised the sashimi, which features multiple flavors that explode in the mouth, and the scallops, which are perfectly cooked and melt in the mouth. The ambiance is understated and minimalist, creating a calm dining atmosphere. Service is often top-notch, with attentive staff, including a standout waiter from Kenya. The decor is minimalist and not too cozy, with a speak-easy vibe at the entrance. The beef tongue appetizer was a favorite dish, and the risotto with pork belly and monkfish were especially impressive. The signature lobster toast is an absolute must-try, and prices are pretty reasonable for a high-end restaurant. Overall, Kinship remains a highly recommended spot for a complete dining experience, especially for special occasions. However, parking can be difficult, and the no corkage policy has been a concern for some customers.
