Delicious lemon pepper and mumbo chicken wings. Pasta Alfredo with lambs is very tasty and the lamb is tender. My margarita was a little weak.Nice atmosphere with friendly servers.
Black-owned restaurant blending American soul food with Caribbean flavors. Good atmosphere, our server was nice. The day we went we were lucky we got seated fast and we were in and out. The crab spring rolls are really good, my wife still talk about them until this day.
First time here! It was great service the minute we walked in the door. Our server, Jada Q, was delightful! Took our drink order and told us the day's specials and made her own recommendations. I had the chicken and french toast and my wife had the blackened salmon. Both dishes were served in the perfect amount of time and still deliciously hot on arrival. The French toast is unbelievable! It paired perfectly with the buttermilk battered chicken and the seasonal berries strewn about the plate. No bites were left when I was done. Soooo good! My wife reported the salmon was done perfectly and the bed mashed potatoes and spinach enhanced the flavors. She also left nothing on her plate. A rare thing for her to do!The manager even stopped by the table table to ask how everything was. We couldn't hold back that we were very satisfied and assured him we would talk up the restaurant as much as we could. We left with full stomachs and a smile on our faces. Please don't short yourself! Get to this place! You'll be happy you did!
We travel around the hood trying different French…I had so much hope for this one…but for $27 this food was mid to low. The chicken (very tender ??) tasted as if it may have been fried in grease that needed changing. I expected the actual French toast to have flavor. Cinnamon, vanilla (from vanilla flavoring, brown sugar, orange zest, something….nothing. The food was warm (of course) but the syrup it’s served with was cold. Chicken seasoning wasn’t robust. No eggs came with this so I ordered a side. They were cooked well and very flavorful. The cheeses come together well and there was a good portion. The DJ was good as well. My friend and I both ordered this (so 2), A water, and a coke and our bill was $80. Our favorite brunch French toast (The Carlyle Grand) served French toast 3 thick pieces) eggs, potatoes and bacon for $15. I don’t mind pay food either. I just need to to be great
I’ve heard great things about this restaurant and I finally had the chance to try them. Parking can be difficult because it’s located in a busy area of DC. Staff was friendly. This location isn’t big. We tried the deviled eggs with mumbo fried chicken on top. I would have preferred more deviled egg mixture but the combination of the two was delicious. Their mumbo sauce was good! Sweet and savory. The shrimp and grits were simple to me. A decent portion given but no wow factor.
Stopped in for Sunday brunch with friends… the food was AMAZING. I got the catfish and grits,as well as the crab tots. The mimosas were good as well! They do offer hookah for those who are interested. My advice is to get there early. Seating is limited.
The DJ was cool..but the music was extremely loud, could barley hear your waiter. The Lemonade taste liked lemon water. ??The sweet iced tea was pretty good. The lobster Mac is no longer "lobster mac", they no longer have lobsters. Menu needs to be updated to the CrabClaw Mac and Cheese..it was very good. I give it 4 stars ?.The Kitchen Cray mumbo sauce wings were good, could have been cooked a little longer (for me) but the sauce was great!!I give it 3 stars ?. The Fish and grits only 2 ?. The grits were cold the fish was small in size. The breading was not browned enough. The service was mediocre. Had to ask for things several times before receiving them.
Service was great, food was great…..(crab fries
Stopped in for brunch, was told there was a long wait. Everything was way faster than expected. All hot fresh and delicious. Mimosas were even amazing, and the service was great. Is definitely a fave I'll revisit whenever I'm in DC. Personal faves: Grits, chicken & waffles and the shrimp appetizer was delicious.
Food was great!!! Couldn’t finish everything, portions are worth the price! Awesome atmosphere… will be back again!

The overall experience was perfect. The food was amazing. I want to go back and try the everything on the menu
The food was delicious. The grits and fish were pretty tasty. The Devil eggs with the mumbo fried chicken on top was different and also tasty. Cray fries were good. I definitely recommend and will return. Just an FYI, the KitchenCray isn't child friendly. Even for the brunch, the music is uncensored and a bit loud. Depending on your comfortability with Rap and R&B themes, language and specific words in a song, you might want to opt for, to-go or delivery. Loved the food, definitely a more mature crowd atmosphere 18+.
My first time at this location and it did not disappoint!! All COVID standard were up to par the I had opt to be seated via my phone and it was 10 ppl in front of me And it was with it !!! The staff was nice & quick I ordered, Chicken and French toast super good, mambo sauce chicken was good ,honey glazed shrimp was bomb ,the crab cake egg rolls was ok the catfish was GOOD . Drinks was LEGIT I’m feeling GOOD lol.
I’ve been to this location previously and thought to take my friend here for her birthday. While the food is always good. The service this time was so bad. We were a party of 7 so of course gratuity was already added which is no big deal when receiving great service. We started off with a young lady who did not greet the table and clearly had an attitude. She took drink orders and never came back when we tried to wave her over for food she looked over and begin laughing with another waiter. She then walked away and sent Stephen over which was our waiter from then on out. He didn’t introduce himself nor did they explain we would be switching servers. He didn’t check on us and was bothered by any request. He didn’t ask about refills or anything. Took forever to come back and by the end of our meal we were all super dissatisfied with the service we received. We understand due to the pandemic a lot of places are understaffed but the biggest thing is communication and a smile or greeting goes a long way. I hope that in the future they can make their guests feel welcomed because the food is good and the music is always a plus!
This place was in a great location…. I can stay the waitress was amazing, she explained everything we needed to know for the restaurant all the way down to the details of each dish….the drinks we order took a really long time to come we got food and drinks at the same time….. I had the salmon and mash(see picture) the salmon was over cooked and they was only using the frozen tail pieces of the salmon on all there salmon dishes and they all where overcooked….. they didn’t know they had all chefs and food critics at the table eating. We didn’t complain because bee was ready to go and they was already overwhelm with everything else they had going on
