My wife and I stopped in after seeing this in an Eater DC article. This place was amazing across service, atmosphere, and taste. Their dough is lighter, which means you don’t feel terrible after eating. This is 1 of 2 locations for them, with the other being in Rome, Italy.

10/10. Pizza quality/taste is equivalent to the best restaurants/Pizzerias in Rome. It's a real privilege to have a place like La Casina in the DMV. The amount of effort the owners and employees put into running the place is impressive.

La Casina is home away from home.I was born and raised in Rome and, as for any other pizza or Italian place in the U.S., I first walked into this establishment with skepticism and low expectations, but man was I blown away. Angela and Fabrizio's care for the quality of ingredients and flavor interactions makes every one of their pinsas a work of art. Now it is the highlight of my wife's and my walks to Eastern Market, which happen once a week, and I walk in expecting the best food and I am never disappointed. Indeed, Angela and Fabrizio continue to find new ways to surprise their customers' palates. If this pinseria was in Trastevere it would be the best pinseria of Rome, but, not only is this the best pinseria in DC, it is one of the best restaurants in the city (and comparatively not expensive). With the fresh aroma of each ingredient gently making its way through your senses, every bite transports you to Italy. If you close your eyes, rather than a pizza, pinsa will give you the satisfaction of a prime pasta dish. The Vesuvio Special will bring back memories of Capri's salty rocks, wild herbs, and rich teal sea. The Mediterranea will bring you for a walk in Sicily's countryside, the Parmigiana will warm your heart like a small medieval town in the hills would do, and the Carbonara...well, the carbonara brings you back to a crummy old hole-in- the-wall in Rome where the host gives you a strong pat on the back after having cracked a joke. Pure joy! What can I say, La Casina is without a doubt the best home experience I've ever had in the United States. All the ingredients are of the highest quality, almost all imported and carefully selected. I usually think of Italian restaurants as a waste of money, we can often cook better pasta dishes than restaurants in America and certainly for less money, but La Casina takes such care of its flavors, that, for me, it's like going to an excellent restaurant in Italy and the prices are fair, in fact, relatively low. Then the suppli', my goodness, what a delight, and the fried artichokes are a dart from Cupid straight to the heart. In short, if you want to spend a nice Saturday in Washington, take a walk around the lovely Capitol Hill neighborhood, explore the stalls of Eastern Market, and stop for lunch at La Casina. You will not regret it.

La Casina is not only the best restaurant in DC, but it also has the kindest most hard-working and generous owners, the wonderful Angela & Fabrizio! Visiting La Casina has become a Saturday ritual for my husband and I after my husband, who is Roman, discovered this gem in our neighborhood. The pinsa is absolutely delicious and made with the freshest ingredients - if you close your eyes, you are transported to Rome and the flavors bring about memories of Italy. La Parmigiana is my personal favorite, but you cannot go wrong with any of the delicious pinsas on the menu. I am a vegetarian and always find lots of options to chose from! Since that first visit, La Casina has become part of our community and a place to gather our loved ones - we have brought all of our DC friends, made going a mandatory part of out-of-town friends' visits, and used the location to host my husband's birthday party, my employer's holiday party, and our dear friend's baby shower! I LOVE LA CASINA <3

The pizza here is amazing!! Incredible crust and fresh and flavorful ingredients! The owners are Italian and that's how you know it's just done to a different standard and done right. I can't wait to go back!I almost didn't want to write this review, so that we can keep this place a "hidden gem". But this is the best pizza I have had in North America (and I have had a looot of pizza including from the famous "best" pizza places in NYC, Chicago, etc - Lombardi's, Lou Malnati's). I think the only pizza I've had that beats this place is in Naples :)

We had lunch at la Casina DC. We were greeted by the owner that allowed us to sit even if they were not open yet. The service was great and Carla our weitress was really nice. The pinza was really good just like in Rome, cooked to perfection. La Casina DC is a must place to go in DC.

Ultimate rating is 3.5 stars. While I enjoyed my pizza and thought the food was overall good, I'm surprised by the near perfect reviews. Went at 7pm on a Saturday night, and they were out of half of the menu items (which doesn't make a ton of sense since most of the ingredients are similar throughout each pizza). Our server tried to point out a few out of stock options, but when I went to order an appetizer, that was apparently not available. We ordered an arancini-like appetizer and I asked for a side of tomato sauce (which I've always gotten with similar apps), and our server immediately said no they don't offer that before I could even finish my question. Ok .... I go to order my first choice pizza after she told us all of the out of stock options. That pizza is also not available.Overall, the food is good but nothing to write home about and I saw similar reviews saying that the restaurant was out of stock of many of the menu items. I'm shocked so many people claim this is the best pizza they've had in DC... it was far from it.

We LOVED our dinner here last night! I made us reservations for 7pm. We live in the neighborhood and am now wondering why it took us so long to visit! We had the bruschetta as an appetizer (sooo good!) with some vino. We then asked our wonderful server for pizza suggestions. We went with L’Amatrice & Ottavo Colle, both were Amazing! We shared a Tiramisu for dessert (delicious)! I met the owner before leaving, and she couldn’t be more sweet! We can’t wait to make this place a regular spot!
