La Chaumiere is one of the best French restaurants in the Washington, DC area. It has been a restaurant standard for nearly 50 years. I've been going regularly for about 10 years. Charming traditional French country restaurant in Georgetown that is beloved. They welcomed us with genuine joy like old friends. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent. They even adjusted a rack of lamb recipe to avoid an ingredient my husband dislikes. The cheese soufflé appetizer & chocolate soufflé dessert are worth the extra time. A Lovely evening.
As always, the star of the show is the Grand Marnier Soufflé Magret de Canard (Duck Breast) packs a flavor and so tender. It a must-have main course. If I were to make criticism, it's the foie gras. The amount of liver itself is ok, but the bread and the amount raspberry-flavored syrup that go with it is anemic. They should put at least 6 slices of bread and a generous amount of syrup...not a couple of rubbed teaspoonfuls.
