We ordered the seafood paella & ribeye. For the price, I was a little surprised because the paella was salted too much and there was too much rice relative to seafood (nowhere near $60 ingredient-wise). The ribeye tasted like it didn’t thaw completely and was very bland - you shouldn’t need to douse steak in sauce to get some flavor (again nowhere near $40 ingredient-wise nor preparation). They packed the place with tables - it was not a cozy atmosphere. Waiters were nice, but inattentive because of the crowd.

Ordered rock fish, which was $75. Thought that was kinda pricey, but considering the ratings were high I said WTH. I ordered takeout, which I was told will be ready in 25-30 min. I arrived in forty and food still wasnt prepared, found that odd noticing the place only had 6 customers all to have seemingly completed their meals. Since there was a wait I decided to have a drink at the bar, the tender with the eye glasses was pretty cool, although the actual server was acting odd. Never acknowledged me, even while serving my order, he never looked me in the eye's. He asked the bar tender wht was my order, went into the kitchen and I noticed both chefs coming to the double door's window to take a gander at me, I found that to be odd. I was the only customer in the restaurant, the others were seated outside. Once home i begun to eat my food and notice my bread was burnt and my fish had the unmistakably gritty texture of dirt or gravel in the food. Although I'd only taken a few bites of food I noticed I started to feel bloated & full quit rapidly. I didn't complete the meal & was awaking at 3AM with my stomach doing things it never did in my 40 years of living. At this vary moment I'm writing this my stomach has a burning sensation and I'm gassy, emitting a smell thts unfamiliar. I pray I'm not poisoned. If things don't get better by the morning I'll be going to the emergency room and will give an update. In tht case, I do have the remaining food saved so I'll be having a portion lab tested

i came in with a friend while visiting DC. we loved our food, everything was amazing. loved the homemade chips (it came with more but we were munching!). i dont remember the name of this dish but SO GOOD.

we came in around 5:15pm and happy hour ended at 5:30pm. so we got sat, waited, ordered drinks (that were put on happy hour), waited more, and then literally as soon as it’s 5:30pm, our server comes over and when we ask, the server says we cant order food on happy hour. so in 15 minutes, we got two drinks and did not have a chance to order food.

i think there may have been the one server only but unsure. he was running back and forth occasionally but other times, didnt look super busy. it was empty inside besides maybe one or two other tables and a few people outside so i wasnt sure if he was overwhelmed or what truthfully. my friend and i have both worked in food service so we’re always empathetic but it was super frustrating to sit for so long and not be able to order food. it genuinely almost felt intentional but maybe it was just poor timing or the kitchen was busier than it seemed.

overall, i recommend you eat here most definitely, the food didnt disappoint at all. but if you want to get the happy hour deals, come in with ample time to spare.

We’ve dined indoors several times, and the staff is lovely. However, I was sick and playing bachelor one recent weekend, so I sort of blindly ordered several items for delivery, and the consistency was spot on. It is really nice to have variety like this in the neighborhood!

Wow I love this place! Atxondo is a delicious, reasonably priced, and consistently impressive spot. I take my out of town friends here to wow them.

Stand outs for us were the Cauliflower a la Plancha, Gold Beet Salad, Crispy Fingerlings, and Scallops with Squid Ink.

All we got was great!

Delicious lunch! Affordable prices for the quality. Steak sandwich was delicious and came with a side salad of arugula and grilled vegetables—very filling. Tuna salad was served over romaine with olives and a mustard-based dressing. Both were delicious. They served their breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu when we came at about 2pm on a weekday.

My family and I love visiting Axtondo and is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. The food and drinks are always good, the staff are friendly and attentive and the prices ( except for the steak) are reasonable. Some of our favorite dishes include the smashed potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, beet and goat cheese salad and their hamburger is great.

If you live in the neighborhood and haven’t tried Atxondo yet WHAT ARE YOU DOING? We have loved everything we’ve tried from here. We started ordering for takeout in the pandemic and have continued. Food is delicious, and ready on time. We’ve loved the fish dish, paella, potatoes, and even the burger.

The food is delicious! I love the grilled salmon, always. Never over cooked, flaky, just right, with a nice crust and plenty of vegetables on the side. And they have the most amazing hummus. The mojito was made with real limes and so refreshing!
