What happened to this place? Always great drinks, great food, great service. Since I was there a few months ago, the staff have new uniforms (nice), the menus have been reprinted (nice); BUT the menu has changed and the food was not good at all. I had the pork which for many years I have enjoyed there, but the plate has changed and today including soggy yucca, inedible pressed/fried plantain, rice with beans and peppers alredy mixed together (very soggy). The pork had the same taste but not the wonderful onions that previously accompanied it. The restaurant has been a booming successs for many years, why change what has worked so well? I probably won't return.
Wonderful time! Food was great. Those seafood quesadillas are a hit every time! Service was good & you cannot forget to get a frozen sangrita!
I have not been to the place since 1990 so It has been quite a while. I sat by myself on an early Tuesday lunch. This is a fantastic time to go since there were no crowds (govt shutdown?) Highly recommended for midweek lunch based on this. I had the Laredo combination with chicken and beef enchiladas and a chicken taco with salad. Honestly, I was stuffed and everything was perfect. The speed of food delivery was impressive. The best part is the price of everything. Affordable on everything, especially for DC. I say that because this is a staffed sit down place. The service here is impressive. Service was fast and very attentive. All food was hot. Staff kept glasses full ( my dining pet peeve) and checked in often. They cared more for the customer than I have seen in DC. I rarely give 5-star ratings unless a place earns it so please give them a try.
It's always a nice dining experience at Lauriol Plaza. The food was great and outstanding service. Since it was a weekday lunch, the environment was quieter than an active weekend evening. We will be back again. It's always a treat.
I ate at Lauriol Plaza with a large group of friends recently. The atmosphere is very much that of a large and popular restaurant, noisy and bustling, but in a good way. Because we were there as a group, we had one of the large group menus that is more limited than the regular menu. This was not a problem. I had the Carne Asada, which was excellent, and I heard only good things about the other items that people ordered. I hope to be able to return.
We had lunch yesterday at Lauriol Plaza. Per usual, it was awesome. I had chicken and shrimp fajitas and my wifebhad Beef and chicken. We both enjoyed our meals immensely! Our waitress was excellent.

A DC institution. I've been going here for years. It's some of the best Tex-Mex in the the area. Great service,

I love going to this place. Me and my family have been dining there years. The food is very good. And service is awesome!
I've been going to this restaurant since it opened in its original location down the street. While the food was tasty and service very good it seemed clear its best days are behind. I ordered my favorite, the morsels of pork and the flavor was mostly there however it had obviously been microwaved as the temperature was uneven and parts were rubbery. I'm sure I'll return, just not as often....

Excellent Mexican dishes. There is plenty on the plate. Wine and beer at a reasonable price. Friendly and fast Service. Warm Mood.
Lovely lunch with friends. Good food and friendly service. Moderate prices Everyone enjoyed
I’ve been visiting Lauriol Plaza since I was about 12 years old. I’ve been getting the same dish (Tijuana Platter) since lol. Love it here! Good food, good atmosphere, the swirls have always been the go-to drink. Ask for Ciro!

Our dining experience at Lauriol Plaza has been prompt, high quality and professional. The start with our appetizers, and our drinks — which were on point and I throughly enjoy dining on the patio at night time which made for a perfect date night.

Vegetarians beware! I've never seen so little vegetarian food in a Mexican restaurant... let alone in Dupont Circle in 2025. Still a fun ambience but the menu has really gone downhill.
