I have heard a lot of great things about this place, so my boyfriend and I decided to try it today. We ordered two unsweetened matcha lattes, one with whole milk and one with oat milk, to really taste the quality of the matcha. While waiting, I noticed they store their matcha in clear containers, which isn’t ideal since light exposure can cause oxidation and affect the flavor and color. On the plus side, they whisk each drink fresh to order. I also noticed the straws weren’t individually wrapped, so we chose to sip through the lids instead. The oat milk version was really disappointing, the oat flavor completely overpowered the matcha, and it just tasted like green oat milk. They might want to consider an oat milk that pairs better. The whole milk version was better, it’s earthy and nutty with subtle umami notes, but not very creamy or sweet. It was slightly astringent and left a bit of dryness in my throat and mouth. Overall, we would rate their matcha 7/10. It’s not bad with whole milk, but there are definitely better matcha options out there.

Had the matcha with the vanilla syrup added, it was excellent! The matcha itself was creamy and very good! My husband got the hojicha and enjoyed it as well!

Little Hat Coffee is hands down one of my favorite spots. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the coffee is amazing every single time. I’m pretty picky about my caramel macchiato and other places almost always mess it up, but here it’s always perfect. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

I've been here before for an oat cappuccino which was amazing. Then I heard the rave about Little Hat's matcha latte but then multiple reviews said that they couldn't taste the matcha. So today I ordered the oatmilk matcha latte as an 8oz instead of 12oz it was perfect. Just a pinch of simple syrup. I think matcha flavor can get lost in too much milk. Highly recommend!

the yuzu espresso tonic and orange blossom latte were the best coffees we’ve had in dc! shoutout to the fine tatted barista that looked like a samurai. 🏯☕️

This place is such a hidden gem. The staff are amazing. Coffee is great. Always feel welcome. Only reason they’re getting four stars is randomly they’re not open on some Saturday mornings. Tip: try their espresso tonics.
