I love Lost Sock Roasters. They have excellent customer service and I also love the space and aesthetic. It gets very busy so finding a good place to sit can be a challenge even on a weekday morning but sometimes you get lucky. The drip coffee is delicious and all the food we’ve had is also quite good. My husband and I were surprised by the Peruvian aji in the egg sando. My husband is from Peru and loved the aji’s authenticity. Only small recommendation I have for the shop is that for dine in customers, there should be a coffee refill of some kind either free or at a discounted price. It’s pretty standard at most shops and was surprised Lost Sock doesn’t do that.

Good coffee, but please don't let the one person making and filling coffee orders chat wanderingly with I'm assuming the regular customers. It took maybe 15 minutes for my lone order, a small cappuccino, to be made. There was a line of paid customers in front of and behind me waiting as well, but the barista spent so much time chit chatting and pausing in the middle of making coffee just to gesture conversationally with whomever they were chatting with. It was all jovial and loving, I'm sure, but it felt like it was at non-regulars' expense. Non-busy days are totally understandable, but if there is a line waiting, no talking. No reminsicing with with friends at the pickup counter. Just focus and make coffee so the line can *keep moving*.

Might not look like much but it’s one of the best breakfast sandwiches you can get from a coffeeshop in the area. Just a simple egg and cheese but the addition of the garlic sauce takes this to another level. Coffee is also smooth and delicious

Best coffee in DC, for sure. Honestly this city has such a tragic coffee scene that Lost Sock’s existence is basically miraculous. Great community vibe. Lovely space too! And breakfast sandwiches!

I have heard about Lost Sock for ages and finally decided to come check it out on a Saturday morning. It was BUSY! I’m surprised we found a spot to sit. I had a great flat white and Buffalo chicken empanada. It has great vibes and is a local hangout. I will be back in the future!

Easily the best coffee in DC (beans and preparation) by far. Really friendly employees, great vibes. There are maybe a dozen seats available inside and another dozen outside. Empanadas are good too.

Absolutely wonderful coffee shop! If you love coffee and want to sample some of the best -- and most local -- beans that DC has to offer, head over to Lost Sock Roasters for not only some of the most phenomenal coffee, but also delicious treats, outstandingly friendly service, and a great ambiance. I've made the six-mile trek up to Takoma countless times to visit Lost Sock, but this delightful shop makes the walk worthwhile every time (and they're also pretty close to the Takoma Metro Station if you decide to take a more efficient mode of transportation). The coffee is delightful and features the perfect harmony of sweet, nutty, acidic, and bitter flavor undertones. It isn't bitter or acidic to the point that you have to add milk or sugar, so I love getting an americano or perhaps a cortado to fully appreciate the deep aroma and robust flavor of the beans. Their coffee goes wonderfully with their variety of sweet and savory treats. Their pan de yuca are tiny, making them the perfect little light, two-bite snack, and the one with guava has a great hit of tangy and fruity flavor. For another small treat, I also love their spinach and feta empanada, which is served slightly warmed and has a generous portion of garlicky spinach, rich and deeply flavorful feta, and a lovely dipping sauce.

Beyond the outstanding food and drink, what really makes Lost Sock one of my favorite DC coffee shops is the people. The service is phenomenal, and the barista always welcomes people with such incredible warmth and enthusiasm. The shop is almost always incredibly busy, but the baristas still take the time to welcome people by name and ask about your day, and they never make you feel rushed or bad for asking questions about the menu. Given how crowded it can get, it's often tough to find a spot to sit, especially on the weekends. They do have a decent amount of both indoor and outdoor seating, so if you do manage to snag a spot, you'll soak in some of the wonderful natural lighting and dull roar of constant conversation and movement. It's also a popular spot for people to visit after grabbing a bite from Donut Run, so you'll plenty of the pink boxes floating around as well. I was afraid I would find it a bit overstimulating, but something about this shop is just so relaxing and laid back that I was able to focus on my book and enjoy my coffee even amidst all the noise.

It’s busy for a reason! Delicious coffee and empanadas, and really friendly staff who you can tell are loved and valued by their community.

Kid-friendliness: Lots of parents with kids popping in and some kids books around, although it’s busy enough that if I were bringing a child I’d probably grab takeout and walk down to the nearby park. (Amazing playground a 5 min walk away)

We love to pop by. The staff is always very nice. I don't drink coffee but I'm told it is excellent. The hot chocolate is the best in Takoma. I do wish they carried at least 1 vegan pastry. Most places in this neighborhood do because their is a population for it. It's a small place so don't expect a seat at all hours.
