This restaurant is an odd combination of excellent service and below average food. Our octopus was very tough. How you deliver a braised octopus that is so tough is hard to understand. The pasta part of entrees were good what came with it—-? Not even average. I'd advise management to correct the issues or close the doors . Your service staff can work anywhere.
Wine by the glass list limited and wines not great. Calamari in swordfish dish was tough and hard to cut and shrimp in pasta dish was fishy tasting. Food was unremarkable. Would not eat there again.
It was a lively evening which is great but the noise level outside was a bit much. Food was ok. I ordered the Gnocchi and it's cauliflower forward and a bit bland. Friend ordered the short rib ravioli and it was fine but not memorable. Panda Cotta was delicious.
Good food and we were allowed to take our time and have multiple courses while chatting. Always a good experience.
We loved our experience! The food and service was incredible. Such a cute place for a date night.
Service was really slow. Food was mediocre. The place is fine but not as good as it used to be
Service was awesome!! Our waiter was very nice and friendly. The food was good, like a 7.8/10. It wasn't over the top amazing, but definitely tasty. You could tell it was fresh, homemade Italian food.
The mussels and bread were good, but the main entrees and desserts were lacking. Like a suburban neighborhood Italian place at $35-$60 per plate. Bad value. Tables were crunched together and in the middle of server lanes. Our server was using a fake Italian accent, which was amusing.
Maybe it’s just me but I wasn’t impressed with this spot. We went for a date night. In the end, I felt it was overpriced, loud, and not attentive service.
I got the clam linguine and there was still grit in it telling me the clams had not been clean properly. Either way, tried it out and don’t think I will be back.
We had a dinner of 1 app, 2 mains, and 2 glasses of wine and was set back over $100. For what we got we just didn’t think it was worth it.

Genuinely one of the worst meals I’ve had. 28 dollar seafood starter came with three unseasoned grilled shrimp. Foccacia bread basket was cold, unsalted, and tasted like they sprinkled canola oil on it. Ossabucco with saffron rice was undercooked, rice was still crunchy. Cacio e pepe could have been the saving grace but it came out stone cold. This has to be the worst way to spend $100 on a meal, period. Plenty of better spots on dc. Do not come here.

We had a tiny table, the food didn’t even fit there. The food was horrible. The pasta was overcooked and cold, also was drowning in oil. They also messed up our order so we had to wait a lot. The wine came in a martini glass. The floor was very slippery. Absolutely don’t recommend. Nothing close to an authentic italian restaurant.

Bartender was cool. Tried to fix it, but...bad food is bad food. This is not italian. Know that. 🤮
Delightful Italian eatery with a cozy, intimate space. I popped into Lupo Verde for an impromptu weeknight dinner with a friend and immediately felt right at home; the ambient lighting, string lights, and exposed brick walls felt like I was being let into a cozy little cabin. We were taken to one of the two-person high-tops in the back of the restaurant, which was a delightful spot to be able to peek at the bar and window into the kitchen.
We watched the chef's prepare our pastas with incredible skill from our perch, which included the ravioli and the conchiglie vongole. My friend enjoyed his ravioli, although commented that the portions were a bit too small (which was valid -- it was about 5 ravioli for around $25). My conchiglie vongole was delightful, with a pretty generous portion of perfectly al dente shells, which soaked up the rich, seafood-based sauce perfectly. There were only a few oysters in the dish, but they were quite tasty.
Our server was super friendly and gave us great recommendations for our pasta and which wines to pair them with. All around, Lupo Verde is a great spot for a cozy, slightly more casual dinner.
One small note that could make an already great experience even better -- I found my feet dangling a bit uncomfortably from the high stools. It would be nice to have a place to rest my feet, either on the chairs themselves or connected to the wall for those sitting on the bench, or perhaps on the table. Certainly not a fatal flaw, but it would have made the dinner even cozier and more comfortable.
