Food was not bad but not good either, calamari were dry, when asked for a sauce they gave what looked and tasted like pre fab marinara, both pasta dishes we ordered were extremely bland sauce, would never go back here with all the good Italian food in DC - centrolina, officina, masseria, red hen, capatosta, lupo verde all so much better. I’m not sure if the previous good reviews mean something happened to the chefs or kitchen but I can’t believe the ratings it was beyond mediocre.
Excellent Seabass Chopped and Tiramisu.
Excellent service and food! The branzino is just perfect ?
Came here for brunch on Saturday and the food was amazing- I’d say the menu is a bit more limited than typical DC brunch spots but the quality is top notch. Ricotta pancakes were incredible, and the crispy potatoes were perfectly seasoned. There were 4 of us guests, and the manager let me know that my potatoes would be coming out late due to an error (Honestly I was too busy eating the pancakes to notice anyway so it was okay!) Nonetheless, they gave us three free pastries to make up for it?! I was kinda shocked and didn’t expect that level of kindness lol. I’ll be bringing my parents here again to try the dinner menu :)
I’m giving three stars because I usually like this place and find their hosts and servers to be great. I went for dinner last night and sat at the bar. One of their cocktails was a “Riverwalk Spritz” which was essentially all of the ingredients of a Hugo Spritz plus aperol. I told the bartender to just remove the aperol from their original cocktail and he said “that’s not possible.” I then proceeded to explain that a Hugo Spritz is what I want. He scoffed/was rude about it. He made the drink and then after 15 min told me he had looked it up and was intrigued. I didn’t even get dinner, because I felt their bar service was so unpleasant that I couldn’t stomach an entire meal.
Amazing food and service! Hope to bring delegations here.
The food and the service was great, but the food portions are way too small.
I cannot believe you're requiring people to prove that they are boosted and also that kids have their vaccine! I hope your poor decision making on this issue causes you extreme financial hardship. You've certainly lost my business!
This dinner was so good that the four dishes I ate were left like this, clean and with no alternative. Impeccable attention and better food. The sardines with a good amount of salt, the octopus soft and tender, the potatoes excellent and the spagetti pommodoro one of the best I have ever tasted. The cake was mascarpone and lemon, sublime. Very very good. Highly recommended
This is a wonderful restaurant.

I visited the restaurant when I stayed at Thompson washington DC. This restaurant is equipped with professional staffs and charming interiors.I really enjoyed the brunch on weekend and their steak and crab meatball pasta were really good.
My wife and I found Maialino Mare because we were staying at the Thompson hotel, in the same building. The restaurant is expensive, but we felt like splurging and not wandering too far on a cold January night. The atmosphere for dinner is very relaxed, with low lighting, tables we'll-spaced and a gorgeous bar. We were given a quiet table as we had requested when booking. The seafood was delicious, and the wine list very complete. The waiters were all well-trained, competent, courteous and friendly. We will definitely return.
Excellent happy hour! $5 Peronis and a nice variety of small plates. Excellent craft cocktails as well. Would highly recommend.
Such a great spot with authentic Italian pasta. The staff is very nice and helpful. Cute, well decorated, and high-end style. Did not need a reservation on a Wednesday night. We were seated quickly.
We had the most perfect brunch on Sunday! The food was delicious and perfectly prepared, our server was so kind and attentive, and we loved that the tables were safely spaced out. I highly recommend their olive oil muffins, cacio e pepe, and pancakes. Divine! We will return soon!
