The staff are friendly but a little slow. The lamb was tough, so I’ll get the chicken next time.

The concept of Marrakesh is salivating - an authentic Morrocan cuisine with no frills. But it misses that mark and expectation by miles. Before the real talk, yes, the interior is interesting and colorful - reminiscent of a Morrocan street market. The Falafels were phenomenal. But that's about it.
Everything at Marrakesh was bland. The babaganoush was just seasoned hummus - not literally but that's how we felt. The kebabs... the flagship was also tasteless. We ordered the mix that has chicken, lamb and beef. Every one of them were flavorless and bland. And some of the meat was even tough. The lamb sheesh kebab was interesting but again, lacks the character to be memorable. Oh, and the bed of saffron rice... it's just rice.
I'm not sure how Marraesh has a 4.8 rating. Perhaps the restaurant is new. But you cannot compete in downtown DC with this caliber of flavors. Oh, did I mention lukewarm beer? They don't even list alcohol on the menu, but when ordered as they offered, it came luke warm.
Marrakesh is more show than taste. If you must visit, just grab falafels for takeout.

Excellent food and services. I have visited other restaurant in the area in the past years but this is the best. I had maroccan salad (cucumber and tomato), tangia Marrakchia (a meat stew), and since the dessert I wished wasn't there the waiter offered me a glass of mint tea (served the Maroccan way).
