Jessica was so great and helpful! She made the experience. The food is delicious. I highly recommend and will be back. Happy hour from 5 to 6:30. Counter seating is comfortable because the chairs have backs.

Martha Dear is a solid spot for a relaxed meal or brunch. The food is fresh and flavorful, the portions are just right, and the coffee and pastries are excellent. The staff are friendly and the vibe is cozy and welcoming. Definitely a place I’d come back to.

Their seasonal butternut squash pizza was beyond perfect, their hummus lamb was nice but nothing so special, their chocolate cake was below average and kind of sucks that a place serving pizza does not serve cafe/espresso drinks.

This was a long-time favorite spot, and a top recommendation to friends visiting D.C. and looking for great food.
While the pizza is generally excellent, pointing out any shortcoming in what you’re served will unleash a torrent of stubborn condescension from management.
When we were served a clearly overcooked pizza (next to a perfectly cooked one, the black and untender crust was obvious), the manager informed us that it was in fact cooked up to their standards, with the implication clear that perhaps it would our unsophisticated palates that were unable to appreciate “char”.
When we replied that we come to the restaurant often, love their pizza, and just had clearly received one that was overcooked, we were told the chef “would never serve” what we were describing, and that again the problem was us.
Chat, is it cringe to politely and deferentially ask that your $30 single-person pizza isn’t burnt to a crisp?
After the manager spoke to us so patronizingly that my wife decided that she would rather sob in private, we asked for the check and left abruptly. Upon handing me the check, the manager was quick to point out that a service fee had already been included. Not taking any chances!
Tl;dr: I spent a $100 dollars so the manager of a pizza restaurant could talk to me like she was a cartoon butler as she served me food at a quality level reminiscent of “recently divorced man attempts Digiorno”. Brutal, gruesome, 0/10.

The food and drinks here are awesome but your time here is very rushed and limited. You’ll be pushed to order and eat and leave to accommodate the next reservation. If you’re looking for a leisurely place to catch up with a friend, go somewhere else where you can take your sweet time.
Loved the sourdough pizza- the halloumi was amazing as was the classic. The place is pretty small and the service is great but make sure to have a reservation ahead of going since it can get pretty busy

Loved our first time visiting. Nice neighborhood spot with very friendly service and delicious pizza. We tried the Concord grape, sausage, and kale pizza and the marinara so we could try a complex pie and a more simple one. Both were extremely flavorful. The Concord grape was definitely on the heavier (and delicious) side and the marinara was amazingly garlicky and lighter. You can really taste the sourdough in the crust! The dill dip on the side was a great choice as well. This is also probably our favorite Caesar salad we’ve had in DC. Would definitely come back.

Cool place and good pizza but way to expensive. I spent $90 on one small pizza, a lemon tart and a few drinks. What are we doing DC? How did everything get so expensive?

Delicious pizzas! We were a group of 3 and shared an app and 2 pizzas which was the perfect amount of food. We started with the whipped feta which was delicious. We shared 2 pizzas; classic cheese and halloumi. Both were really good and well made. Service was quick, but we did feel a bit rushed to finish our dishes and quickly clear plates at times. Nothing major but it didn’t seem busy enough where someone was waiting for a table. Outside of that we had a great experience.

Hear ye, fellow citizens!
Bruh, lend me thine ears — Martha Dear is built different. Upon mine oath, the pie emerged from yon oven as though it were painted by the very hand of the Almighty — the crust crisp, the toppings most fire, and the basil striking true as a cannonball at Yorktown.
The appetizers? Verily, they did busseth — so good I near proclaimed independence from hunger itself.
Let it be recorded in the annals: Jessica was a true patriot. A gentle soul, helpful in every regard, and possessed of chill most rare. The rest of her regiment kept the vibe strong — an army of hospitality that made us feel not as strangers, but as brethren at the table.
Thus I declare before Providence and TikTok alike: if thou seekest a feast most noble and vibes most immaculate, Martha Dear is the move. No cap, only liberty.

We love Martha Dear! The food is excellent and the staff make it an outstanding experience. We came for an early dinner with our toddler. They were very accommodating and helped our family enjoy dinner at the pizza bar. The whipped feta is a consistent hit and the pizzas are always delicious.

Martha Dear’s food *never* disappoints. My only qualm this time was that the tables were VERY close together. It was difficult to walk through and you’re basically having dinner with your neighbors.
