Mastro's has lost its luster. As a former fan of the chain, and visited almost every location, this was the fourth visit at the DC location. The sides were great - the protein was sub-standard. Cold and not delivered on the usual hot plate.
Mastros charges premium prices but delivers subpar service. At the bar, I ordered sparkling rosé—the bartender didn't mention the price or wine name, served an overflowing glass, and charged $44. The dining room was overcrowded. Our server threw menus at our table because she couldn't reach us, never explained anything, and shouted orders from across the room. She aggressively pushed us to order more appetizers, extra oysters and shrimp, and coffee we repeatedly declined. For $650 for three people, the food and service didn't justify the cost. The décor is nice, but that's where the positives end. Expected proper seating, drink service, and menu explanations—got none of it.
Consistently superb dinning experience. Our dinner was excellent, starting with the Burrata appetizer and continuing through our gustatory journey with Filets and delicious sides and ending with perfectly balanced Cherry Crumb dessert. Also, we want to recognize Mastro's Steakhouse staff which continue to be efficient, professional, and courteous.
The smoked bone marrow was not good overcooked , I have never had onions in macaroni and cheese , the rack of lamb and 8oz petite meat was cooked perfectly, the carb leg enhancement was not good enough for my wife we laughed at the portion size , Mastro's overall has good food but overpriced it is not worth the value , having additional staff helping with services does not make the experience upscale but I do recommend the butter cake it was delicious.
Service was horrible. We had to track down servers for drink replenishment or water. The waiter keep stepping on my feet. The tables were so congested there was no walkway for staff so they kept bumping the table. We were never asked after food arrived if all was ok. Soup was cold and bland. We ordered a bottle of champagne and glasses sat empty for several minutes to be refilled. For the price point, $500 for 3 dinner service, the service was beyond subpar. I will not go back.
Our server was excellent but my cod was under cooked. I did not enjoy my meal with my family an we had to take our dessert and protein home. It was not ideal and put a poor taste to our experience
The wait staff and food was delicious. Everyone was attentive to our needs and the atmosphere was relaxing.
Food was delicious. I noted on the reservation that it was a birthday celebration and the server did not acknowledge the birthday or anything. Kind of made it a party proper.
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. Had a great dinner, wonderful service, they knew it was our anniversary. After dinner had drinks at the bar. Overall a wonderful evening.
experience was amazing but was seated towards middle which made lack of space so movement was restricted putting servers in personal space

While the food and service by our waitress was amazing, the staff removed our plates to bag our leftovers (which was over half of our dinner) and we did not receive all of the food. After a $300 bill, I expected to come home with the food I paid for. We were also charged more than the menu prices. We had a good time but I doubt we will return. There are plenty of good steakhouses in the area that offer the same quality of food.
I went to Mastro's Steakhouse in DC this week for dinner, and honestly, everything just clicked. The service was on point from the moment I walked in—smooth, attentive, and never over the top. I get why people rave about the steaks there. Mine came out exactly the way I asked for, and the flavor was so good there was no way I was sending back a single bite. The sides were just as solid, and the key lime pie... look, that thing should count as its own experience. The vibe was quiet without feeling stiff, so it made the whole night easy and comfortable. I know places like this can be hit or miss depending on the night, but this one really delivered. Definitely worth it, and I'd go back without thinking twice.
The entire experience was top notch. I'd definitely go back! Live music, fresh hot food, respectful and professional staff, fast quality service. What more can you ask for during fine dining?!
This restaurant was oddly aggressive about its rules - they called me before our arrival to confirm our reservation and then read me their entire dress code. They also made me wait in their lobby for the second person in our party of two to arrive, again citing their rules. This rigid posture might make sense if they also knew how to cook a steak at this steak restaurant. Both of our steaks were improperly cooked, and they were not close. The waiter tried to turn it into an issue that we "felt" like our steaks were undercooked. No, they were mostly just raw. Avoid!
Great food and wonderful atmosphere. Our server, Kelvin, helped make this a wonderful experience.
