My food and drinks were delicious. The bottomless brunch was a good price and they give you full portions. I am shocked. Our waitress Joyanna was so patient attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely at this to my favorite brunch spot list.

Quiet enough that you can hear your conversation with guests and/or newly made friends. And let me tell you, I've met some wonderful people here. The foods are tasty, cocktails are refreshing and well made.
From the moment we were greeted, it was clear we were in for a special evening. Shamikh, the manager, personally checked in with us to ensure everything was going smoothly — a thoughtful and professional touch that set the tone for the night. Jennifer, our server, was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and warm in her delivery. She recommended standout dishes, described them in detail, and followed up just at the right moments without ever being intrusive.
We began with the crispy Brussels sprouts and the hot artichoke & spinach dip — both arrived piping hot and beautifully presented, with flavor profiles that struck the perfect balance between comfort and sophistication. For mains, Jennifer recommended the wood-fired thin-crust pizza and the shrimp & grits from the brunch menu, and they did not disappoint. The pizza had a delightfully crisp, slightly charred crust with generous fresh toppings; the shrimp & grits were rich and creamy, with perfectly cooked shrimp and just the right amount of seasoning—ideal for the brunch-lovers among us. We also sampled the apple-pear salad (from the menu) which offered a crisp, refreshing counterpoint to the richer fare.
On the drinks front: we started with a craft cocktail — one of Matchbox’s signature mixes per the menu — and a craft beer poured expertly. The cocktail was vibrant and well-balanced, and the beer arrived at the perfect temperature with a clean, crisp pour. Jennifer suggested the happy hour-friendly draft list (especially during the 3-6 pm window) and Shamikh graciously greeted us again later to ensure the bar experience was seamless.
The ambiance at the 8th Street location is relaxed yet lively — a comfortable place for anything from a fun brunch to a casual dinner. We enjoyed the energy without feeling overwhelmed. Between courses, Shamihk visited our table to check that our dietary preferences were accommodated and to thank us for dining with them — a gesture that made us feel truly valued.
In short, if you’re looking for a restaurant that delivers on menu variety (from pizzas to brunch classics like eggs Benedict, chocolate French toast, and more) coupled with top-tier service and personal touches from management, this Matchbox location hits all the marks. Jennifer and Shamikh in particular made our visit memorable. We’ll absolutely return — and we’ll be recommending this spot to friends. Highly recommended!

They keep bring out the wrong food or didn't bring out our food at all. We went for the unlimited brunch which is 2 hours, the food came out after 40 mins then it was incorrect items that came which made us have to wait another 15 mins for the correct meal. Overall horrible experience for $160 including the tip.
I must say this was my first time at this location and I won't be coming back i had a reservation and had to wait to be seated because there were no tables 🤔 once I was seated I was told I was told there were only two servers wow it's a two hour limit and everytime they brought food out it was wrong🤦🏽♀️🚩I won't be returning back to this location ✌🏽
Service was so slow, I left and went down the block to grab coffee and a donut at Dunkin. I just got turned off by the service and lost my appetite.

The restaurant was fun, laid back, played upbeat music and was clean! Our server, Tiffany, was kind, friendly, and made good suggestions on what to order.
The Bourbon Crisp was a nice way to welcome Fall and end a long day of walking the Mall.
Recommend!

My cousin and I were in town for the Chris Brown concert and before heading out of DC, we decided to try this gem. Albert our server was amazing!! He was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was fresh and delicious! I’d definitely visit again if I’m ever in DC.
