Went for Sunday brunch and sat on the patio. Enjoyed the nice, quiet neighborhood restaurant feel. Food was outstanding as was the service. Staff was very attentive and adjusted our sun umbrella more than once to make sure everyone in our party stayed in the shade. Bread was fantastic and definitely baked fresh. Try the bourbon French toast, eggs benedict and Moroccan eggs.

We enjoyed Matisse when it first opened, but have seen a decline recently. Mushrooms in pasta chopped beyond recognition. Branzino portion very small. Apple tart was delicious.

The delicious food and impeccable service made our evening perfect. Mushroom soup. Branzino. Profiteroles yum!!!

We do like Matisse but food lately has not been as good - not bad just nothing to get excited about The risotto was bland and the kale salad plating left it looking a bit ordinary We will be back and hope the kitchen gets a little more sparkle

Wonderful ambiance. Great service. The food was very good, especially the halibut egg roll.

Matisse is an island of civilization. The food is always wonderful. I'm especially impressed with the professional touches in the service. None of the flaws we sometimes see in places that should know better. Sadly, the night we were there, they sold out of the halibut spring roll special but I hope it returns. We were there relatively late on a Saturday so it was less buzzy than usual. And you can park easily in the neighborhood.

Matisse is consistently a fine dining experience . Never disappoints. The entire staff and the owner very obviously care that their customers have a great dining experience and 100% of the time that's what happens. Always attentive and friendly. The wine list is exceptional. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately my visit to Matisse was rather disappointing. The hostess greeted us warmly, showed us to the table outdoors that we requested, and our server (never told us his name) was professional, gracious, and most attentive. Now to my meal... I began by sharing a Caesar salad that was so small that I needed to put my glasses on to see it. Adequate, but not memorable. I chose for my main course the pork special that came with risotto and cauliflower rosettes. My mistake was not asking to speak with our server/manager after tasting the pork. It was truly tasteless and dry, and the gravy that covered the pork was ordinary. Interestingly, though both the server and host stopped by to inquire how we were enjoying our meal, both saw a full plate of food not being eaten, and when our plates were removed, mine being full, there was no inquiry as to why, or my declining a box to take it home. My partner wasn't impressed with his branzino either. The dinner was expensive for a less than memorable meal. The DMV has many dining options that I have tried- rarely am I as disappointed as I was yesterday evening.

The service was excellent thanks in great part to Enzo who prepared very nice drinks. The restaurant clearly attracts a devoted crowd of regulars. We could hear around us people confirming that they were returning clients. That is a good sign.

The food was good. The service could have been better. A long time between order and delivery even though the restaurant was not particularly crowded.

We were delighted with the food, service, ambience, and reasonable prices. I will be going back, and back, and back. . . .!!

It has been one of our favorite restaurants for a very long time.
We took our 20th couple there for their first time.

It was our anniversary and it felt as comfortable as being at home. Saw friends there and the service was wonderful

Excellent soft-shell crab, gazpacho, watermelon panzanella, and poached pear with crème anglaise in light puff pastry. Warm service, from busboy to server to owner. Ambiance of a French country restaurant.
