The food was creative, well prepared, and delicious. They had a nice selection of wines by the glass and I appreciated being offered tastings to choose from! We sat at a hightop in the bar area and enjoyed the relative quiet to visit. I will return!
This is a lovely small restaurant that we haven't dined at in years. Service was excellent, ambiance pretty and relaxing. Food: We ordered a Caesar salad to share— it had barely any dressing on it, one tiny little anchovy lying at the edge of the lettuce, and the romaine even had some wilted pieces in it. Not good. Main courses: seafood risotto was delicious- rice was perfectly cooked with generous portions of seafood and a wonderful lobster stock. Branzino- a nice fresh piece of fishbut very bland. No sauce or noticeable seasoning. Small potatoes and green beans that came with it were okay but nothing special. Wine was reasonably priced - very limited beer selection. Bread was delicious - we skipped dessert.
Great meal and service, which is customary. However, I would suggest changing the menu to add more variety.
Superb Easter Brunch, fixed price and several selections from appetizers to dessert to satisfy any palate. Great bloody Mary to compliment the meal. Amuse Bouche, beignets were to die for .
This restaurant is a neighborhood treasure! Have always been delighted with the food the service, the wine list and the ambiance. Will return again and again.
Matisse is such a lovely place. Food is always good. Service is great. Quiet, elegant environment designed by well-known designer Anthony Beverly with wrought iron details. We are lucky to have this neighborhood jewel.
We love Matisse. It's both a week night dining pleasure and a special occasion place. We were three celebrating a birthday, and the management was very accommodating in seating us in the area I requested. For appetizers, we had the special duck confit spring rolls and grilled octopus - both delicious. One of us had the duck breast special; another, the soft shell crab special. Both rave reviews. One had the tenderloin medallions - couldn't be more perfect. Matisse is a high end restaurant with a neighborhood vibe. Love it. Great service and impeccable management.
We were ignored and put in the back of the restaurant with two elderly parents celebrating a 90th birthday. They didn’t even bring the birthday dessert we ordered. Manager walked away and never returned. It was a place we had recommended previously but I level the slightest care was given. Shame on them.

Went for my mom’s birthday. Had been there for brunch before so was expecting an excellent dinner. Instead we got a very underwhelming meal, especially for its cost. The waiter, ill suited to a service job but seemingly hired for his French accent, started taking our orders with a harsh “what do you want.” Every interaction kept that same level of hostility. I didn’t know it was possible to mess up French Onion Soup, but my Dad and I both got a small bowl of bland water with some onions floating around. The entrees for fine but it didn’t seem like anyone got anything special. And the deserts were undersized and uncreative. Really dissappintrd in what what was supposed to be an exceptional meal, especially for that price.

We had a delightful evening at Matisse. The specials were delicious last night. We enjoyed fresh mushroom soup, Hawaiian hearts of palm salad, fried oysters and then we shared the Black Pearl Salmon - one of our favorites, pared with a light and crisp Chablis. Our server was very attentive and let us enjoy our dinner without feeling rushed. Finally, the music set an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere. I highly recommend a Friday night at Matisse!

Good main course, although they forgot to bring our wine order and we had to remind them, but mushroom soup was indifferent (delicious rack of lamb though). Ambience, elderly, on a Thursday night, very quiet. Service courteous but not really engaging.
We had a fabulous time dining Al fresco on the front patio. Our meals were delicious ....3 halibut specials and one veal, 4 different salads and tasty apple tart and Pavlova for dessert. The cocktails were especially mouthwatering and the featured red wine was so smooth and tasty. The service was outstanding. Highly recommend Matisse!!!
Dined at Matisse with friends on a Saturday night. First of all, the front of the restaurant gives no indication of the spaciousness of the upper floor dining room. It was spacious and well lit. Staff was excellent, very attentive and courteous. The menu had great choices and the food was delicious, each of our party of three were very happy with dishes. I can't recommend this restaurant enough - it was a completely enjoyable experience.
The menu was very inviting! My friend had soft shell crab and I had a branzino. They were both delicious- perfect- as were the vegetables that accompanied them. Lots of people around us ordered delicious -looking desserts. We were too full. Our waiter was outstanding! We were seated in the back room where it was very quiet and there was good lighting. I look forward to returning soon!
Usually, Matisse is a good dining experience. This time, the service was great, but the steak I ordered—rib eye, and the tournedos my wife ordered were tough. Not up to Matisse's usual high standards.
