My experience eating at this final establishment has been nothing but perfect! We went there for an early morning breakfast upon arriving in Washington DC at the train station. It was very good.

I asked for my ice cream cone order when it was supposed to be ready and got brushed off by an employee who didn’t even bother to look at me. And then for another five minutes they proceed to deliver orders made after mine. Never got my food!

McMorning in D.C.: Breakfast on Track at Union Station
You can’t go wrong with a McDonald’s breakfast when travelling on an early Amtrak, and the small McDonald’s at Washington, D.C.’s Union Station didn’t disappoint when we visited at 6:30am on the morning of Memorial Day, Monday May 26, 2025.
Unusually, the McDonald’s didn’t have electronic kiosks but we were served quickly by the cashier. We ordered:
🥯 Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel and hash brown = $10.09 ☕️ Premium Roast coffee upcharge = $.40 🍔 Sausage & Egg McMuffin and hash brown = $8.69 ➕ Extra sausage = $2.19 🍊 Orange juice upcharge = $1.50 😢 Tax = $2.29 💰 Total = $25.16
A similar order, at Boston’s North Station last summer, cost us $20.40, once again showing the rising cost of eating at McDonald’s. Despite this we enjoyed our food as we travelled south from D.C., bound for a few days at Williamsburg in Virginia.
On our last visit to D.C., in summer 2017, our train suffered a severe delay and we had a long wait at the station, so we got our supper from this McDonald’s. We can say that the breakfast was much better!

Always served quick, hot food. I’ve only ever eaten breakfast there. But, friendly staff, pancakes are hot! You get the occasional homeless person asking for something, but that’s typical of Union station.
This McDonald's needs some renovations. One of the displays was broken and the whole space needed a thorough cleaning. They were out of Dr. Pepper and there were no napkins by the drink dispensers. The prices are also higher than a typical McDonald's. Probably best to eat at one of the other options in Union Station.

Yes, this McDonald's is in the Amtrak station. Yes, all of one's assumptions about what this means is probably correct. Yes, there vibes are a little off. But this place is here for you. Like the sometimes distant but ultimately loving parent, this place is here for you. Like the lumpy, too small mattress you slept on as a child, this place is here for you. I go here every time I take an Amtrak. Rain or shine, early mornings or late nights, this Amtrak McDonald's has fueled me on more journeys than I can count. Highly recommend.

I think this McDonald’s would be better if they had better workers. Everybody in the spot had an attitude as if I filled out the application for them. I’m a very friendly, bubbly, kind person so when I’m asking for napkins which should have been in the bag and can I have extra ketchup lead to eye rolls and aggressive hands. I wish I would have seen Starbucks. That’s all.
