Stop by a drink and an onion soup. Both great! Elijah at the bar made the experience cool!

A cozy and intimate space with warm lighting and vintage decor. The service and staff go beyond and above for you to spend a lovely time. Unfortunately the food is not up to the standards of the place. The steak was hard to cut and chew. The frites where plain and a little bit saggy. Even the filet mignon was hard.

Make sure to have a reservation. Another option is the bar, first come first serve.

Fun place is literally in an alley across from dumpsters in the hip Union Market neighborhood. I can't tell if it's purposefully ironic, or they got a sweet lease deal.

As soon as you enter the doors, you enter another world of an old-school NY restaurant that's made to look 100 years old. Tight spaces, lots of people-looking fun to be had.

I wouldn't call it a French restaurant--it's more like an old-school French-influenced NY seafood, steak and pasta place, as imagined by Americans. You know up-front it's going to be a pricey evening--everything is expensive. You're definitely coming here for the experience when you have some cash to burn.

Service staff was warm and friendly, without being too familiar.
We had excellent butter lettuce salads, two delicious wines by the glass, butter-poached halibut and an excellent branzino filet, along with a few bottles of Aqua Panna. Dessert was a Grand Marnier souffle and vanilla gelato. Excellent bread service.
Excluding tip, this was over $200.

Be aware that tables are tight, and this place is loud--it's part of the ambiance. The back room is slightly less noisy and a bit more enjoyable.

The moment you walk through the front door you know you are in for an experience. The atmosphere was sophisticated and full of history. The service was truly outstanding start to finish. The cocktails and wine were superb and the food was excellent!

Loud and lively bar/restaurant. Food good. Blanquette de veau (deconstructed) was good, but roast chicken a bit dry. Decent wine list. Fun place - French bar vibe.

Dinner at Minetta Tavern DC felt like a cruel joke at fine (?) dining’s expense. The crab croquettes were a scam—zero crab, zero flavor, just deep-fried cream cheese mush passing as seafood. The lamb ragu tasted like someone forgot to season it, then dumped it over limp, uninspired pasta pretending to be fresh. If bland had a flagship dish, this would be it.

The atmosphere? Imagine eating inside a jet engine. We had to shout over the deafening din just to ask, “Can you taste anything?”—spoiler: we couldn’t. The tables were so cramped we had to play a sad game of plate Tetris just to fit our food, and at one point, staff had to physically move tables out of the way just to seat the next party.

A single glass of wine will run you $20–30, which might be forgivable if it dulled the experience. Dinner for two—one shared appetizer, two disappointing pastas, and one glass of wine each—came out to $152. This place is all noise, no soul, and a masterclass in how to fleece diners with hype. Avoid.

It’s a joke in a town of jokers. Good for them.

This place is definitely a vibe - it almost feels like you are in nyc but it’s more crowded and noisier. The service was meh…unlike the service in the Lucy Mercer bar upstairs -which was amazing. The food was good - in fact, I would give the fries five stars. Also - points for the red wine that was served at the absolute perfect temp. I guess the only real flaw was lackadaisical service.

This place doesn’t disappoint. There are a few restaurants in Union Market that are all about flair and vibe but don’t deliver on the menu. This place does both.

DC has a ton of very good French cuisine and after one visit this place is immediately in my top 5. Will be back for sure.
