An amazing hole in the wall family owned sushi restaurant with amazing food some of the best sushi I’ve had since my Japan visit
We had bento boxes—one bulgogi and one salmon sushi. Food was hot, tempura light, dumplings practically flash fried and bulgogi was shaved and tender with classic, flavorful marinade. The homemade mint lemonade was delightful after a hot day staying hydrated with just water. It was an easy 10 minute 0.4 mile walk from the East National Art gallery. The place is small, clean, casual and tucked down a street that looks like an alley, with I think the owners cooking.
Solid spot - ideally for takeout. It’s a tiny hole in the wall, but adorable and looks like family-run. They don’t have alcohol, so no drinks and a very small menu. Limited seating. There’s an upstairs but looks un-used. Seems out of place, but maybe it’s a neighborhood spot? I wouldn’t go back, but might order food for delivery.
After eating sandwiches and pizza during our trip, it was refreshing to have Japanese food for a change. The elderly couple running the restaurant were very kind, which made the experience even more pleasant.
Not quite Japanese, not quite Korean, very expensive and very poor quality. Survives off of unknowing tourists.
TL, DR; This is The Spot. Just go here when you get tired of walking and taking in all the DC mall has to throw at you.
We walked into an empty restaurant at 3pm and were treated with immense warmth and hospitality. They even sent us an extra little snack to try, which surprised and delighted me and my mother both. I ordered the spicy pork bento, my mother got the bulgogi bibimbap, and we got a spicy tuna roll to share as well because we figured the portions would be small. We were so wrong. The portions were hearty but left me feeling light. The bento box had a lovely fresh salad, the eggplant in the tempura was perfectly marinated, the spice level on the pork was spot on. The bibimbap looked beautiful with fresh vegetables and a perfectly soft cooked egg. I also have to mention that the spicy tuna roll had a slice of tuna rather than the more common tuna ground and mixed with Mayo, so you could really see and taste the quality of the fish. All of this paired well with a house made mint lemonade. Please support this business, you’ll be happy you did.
I ordered ramen and received oodles of noodles. The service was terrible. I normally do not leave a review but be warned. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!
Wonderful, small restaurant!! We enjoyed the Bulgogi Bibimbap and the Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box. Both were amazing. On the Bibimbap, all of the toppings are served on top with a spoon to mix it all together. The wonderful, sweet chef took pity on me and came over to mix mine and add a little sauce. I felt like my ‘’mom’ was taking care of me, and I loved the personal touch and the food!! Don’t forget the house-made Mint Lemonade! It is so refreshing and not too sweet.
Bento boxes are large and great! Bulgogi bibimbap was great
The Reman is instant noodles and it costs me $20. That’s crazy. That’s a Japanese restaurant, I assume it’s Japanese reman. That’s sucks

I really wanted to like this place and I’m used to bad sushi from bad Japanese food in Sweden, but unfortunately this was worse. Rolls where messy and tasteless, no wasabi or ginger. We also ordered teriyaki chicken bento and the chicken only tasted black pepper. The fried tempura (and shrimp tempura roll) tasted old oil. I’m sorry to write this review and service was great.
Service was extremely friendly and fast. Food was amazing, especially the sushi rolls, teriyaki box, and mint lemonade. Give it a shot, you will not be disappointed.
very good food, small cozy place, workers are very nice and friendly, mint lemonade was delicious, definitely recommend!
Stopped in for dinner after visiting the US Capitol. Reasonably priced good Japanese food, close to the Capitol building. Atmosphere was no frills, but food, location and service were great. Hit the spot and didn't break the bank.
Very cozy, sweet owners. A bit old fashioned but very good! Would recommend the bibimbap and not the sushi.
