Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. The prices were high, portions were small, and the dishes lacked flavor. Not sure why this place gets so much hype

This hole in the wall of a place in DC Chinatown has been around forever. The prices of everything on the menu is high although the food itself was average to slightly above average...the pricing is still higher than it should have been the ambience of the restaurant and the cleanliness. It is your typical casual Chinese restaurant, so service is not exceptional. Mongolian beef was pretty tasty, salt pepper shrimp was very good, fried tofu with veggies was pleasantly delicious. It had bok choy, Chinese broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms. Flavor is light and tasty. Combination fried rice was okay which had chicken and pork pieces that didn't taste that fresh.
Beef chow fun was just okay and lacked flavor on our visit. Also the roast pork wonton egg noodle soup completely has zero flavor in the broth and a soup. Beef and broccoli was just okay.

They open until 3am, so this place is a great place to get Chinese food late after games, shows, etc. in DC.
18%tip is already added to your check so you don't need to add additional tip. Overall, this place has decent Chinese food in DC Chinatown, pricey, but fast food for late night outings since they stay open very late.

BEWARE: ATTACKED by a homeless man in the store while the owners watched!!

I was eating dinner in the dining room when a homeless man came in. He came up to my and all the other patron's tables' asking for money and food from their plates: he would not take no for an answer. The whole time, the owners were watching him approach everyone without intervening or calling the authorities.

Eventually, the homeless man left while shouting slurs at everyone. The owners made a general statement that he comes in every now and again: so they know this is a problem and are complacent. The owners did not apologize for the disruption or for the profanity directed towards the customers.

If you choose to shop here, I suggest it be by carry-out only. You are seriously taking your safety into your own hands otherwise.

(Also, $20 for an entree, rice not included is kinda outrageous... this place sucks for so many reasons. if you are really craving chinese food, theres a karaoke bar right next door that has a gated entrance in the store and literally the same food.)

It's been years since I've had amazing Chinese food like they offer. Worth the trip, and everything tastes rich and savory!

Staff ran away lol I went in to order take out and saw two staff members sitting and playing with their cell phones. One guy looked at me and just stared with no greeting. I took a glance at the menu and when I looked up again they went MIA

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Go for the food, stay for Oscar!
Big Wong is a must-visit, especially if Oscar is working. He’s hilariously goofy and kept us smiling the entire meal—the guy is pure good vibes.
He served us the pig intestine, and it was surprisingly delicious and super tasty. We’re already craving more! We’ll definitely be back soon to get our fix and hang out with Oscar again. Highly recommend!

Went in to order fried rice had a taste for it after having Pho next door, planned to get it to go walked in was never acknowledged but soon as a white person came in lady ran from the back and said how many. Guy looked at ne acknowledging that I was there before them this women still didn't acknowledge me .Dont recommend if you are african American. I ordered food through uber eats then let them know loudly what happened man spoke some thing to the lady in another language. She never said nothing and no apologies

Very rude behaviour, at $50 I would have had much better food with 5 star service and ambience.

I am happy to go this restaurant myself, but sometimes the clientele is the seedy sort, who use profanity every other word and makes it uncomfortable for my family if I have them with me there. I have had to apologize to them on some occasions but was too invested in the meal to walk out.

Food is very very average and not tolerable for the price they charge. Made us wait 15 minutes to put a take out oder. Also racist and didn't give us chopsticks for takeout order. Guys, you can't assume that people can't use chopsticks, you need to ask them what they prefer.

In from Phoenix for the week for a work trip. Was close by my hotel and only a 10min walk or so. Small cozy place below street level. Food was good for a cold night for this desert dweller not used 30 or below temps

Honestly shocked at the bad reviews. This place is excellent for what it is -- it's not meant to be fine dining and you're not there for the ambiance. It's a great take out spot and you can't beat it in terms of freshness for late night food after a night at the bars. Some of the best Chinese food I've ever had for a standard very casual place. The food is a little expensive but it's because the portions are huge. You could easily get one thing and feed two people no problem.

New Big Wong is an absolute gem!

I stopped by for the first time today and was seriously impressed. The moment I walked in, the staff greeted me warmly and made me feel right at home. The place has that perfect cozy, good vibe you expect from a great Chinese spot.

I ordered crab rangoons, pork fried rice, and hot & sour soup and everything was amazing. The crab rangoons were perfectly crispy with a creamy filling that actually tasted like real crab, not just cream cheese. The pork fried rice was flavorful, packed with tender pieces of pork, and had that fresh-off-the-wok taste you can’t fake. And the hot & sour soup? One of the best I’ve had in a long time rich, balanced, and super comforting.

New Big Wong delivers quality and flavor every time. I’m already planning my next visit. Highly recommend!
