NuVegan Cafe - Howard University

Went to the college Park site and very disappointed. Prices were very increased compared to the original restaurant near Howard. Employees were just kids and didn’t know how to make any decisions. I felt like the amount of options had greatly decreased. Most of the food especially the greens was over salted. I ordered the chicken Drummies that seemed they had been sitting there for a few hours. For years this was my go to place when I was in town but this will be my last trip. I had taken family members and literally was embarrassed.

Parking: Good luck if you aren’t walking to this place. Parking took me an hour and I had to pay!

I just stopped eating meat recently due to health issues and found this Nuvegan on Google leaving the hospital and when I say I couldn't believe how absolutely delicious the food was I mean delicious. I'm already ready to go back.

Non-vegan here: delicious food (I had the chick’n tenders, mac and cheese, and cornbread) and lovely service (we were generously given some free food that was prepared by mistake). A low key place, but a gem for a casual meal!

This review is reviewed by my friend who lives in AmericaThe food was very good. Prepared the way I like it which is, not overly cooked. I had the bbq tofu, brown rice, String beans & collards. It was very tasty. I bought the cornbread and lemon cakes aswell. I haven't tried it as of yet since the food was extremely filling. The only thing with the bbq is, the more you eat it. The sweeter it gets.

Price gouging business!!!! I’d never recommend doing business at the establishment.

Unbelievable, I was emailed my receipt so I was not able to view my charges. Be aware of their shady practices. Charging customers for food that they didn’t order is ridiculous. I’ve tried to reach out to them using the number posted on their site and the call just drops.

What a scam of a business ? they charged me me for food that wasn’t purchased or received. Be aware that they’ll email you a receipt so you will not be able to view it. Called several times and their phone just disconnects.

Customer service was horrible! There’s no one available to contact to resolve your issues. Be aware of the pricing they charge extra for food not requested or received.

Whenever I go to any major city I’m always eager to try their most popular vegan spots! I read a lot of positive reviews on NuVegan and decided to go check it out with the fam. I told NuVegan upon my arrival that I was a first timer, the server then took time to guide me through their selections and described their cold vs hot dishes. I was also able to sample any item I wanted to try.I ended up buying 3 different “make your own”platters + 3 kombuchas (kudos to them for having so many unique kombucha flavors). First off, hands down, the best vegan chicken wings I’ve ever had! I have had vegan food from just about every major city in the US, their chicken wings rival all the others I’ve tasted, it was simply delicious. Also, shout outs to their vegan Mac and Cheese, it’s also a must try. In total, our food came out to around 90 dollars for the 3 of us, well worth it. It wasn’t necessarily the healthiest vegan food lol and I wouldn’t eat it every day but for a person whose never had vegan food or may be vegan food averse, this would definitely blow their minds. Would absolutely recommend, and to add a cherry on top, they’re black owned!

Love the food here so much, but so frustrated with the take-out packaging! I have specifically asked for no condiments or utensils every time I order, and am still given them every time, which is a violation of DC's Serve On Request policy. I wish I could keep supporting this restaurant, but can't keep trying until this is addressed.
