I've dined here and I've gotten takeout and both times were really positive. The takeout food specifically was cooked to order and really tasty, even though I was running slightly late, and made it back to the hotel still warm despite it being quite chilly out!

Stopped in for dinner while in town for work. Sat at the bar upstairs. The bartenders are extremely pleasant and chatty. I ordered the burrata salad and the bolognese. Both were excellent. Unfortunately I didn’t have any ability to eat dessert though the dessert menu looked great.
On a Wednesday night the restaurant was pretty empty, and oddly a couple and another single person crammed in at the bar with me instead of selecting one of the many available tables.

If you’re visiting DC and someone suggests Oficina for its “Italian food with a view of the Potomac,” go in with the right expectations. While technically located on the Wharf, it’s more at the far end — so the water views are limited. That said, the atmosphere is stylish and comfortable, with an upscale steakhouse vibe that can suit any mood, from date night to business dinner.
The food was much better than it looked on the plate — flavorful, balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. I only wished the menu offered a bit more variety. The service was excellent; our server was attentive without hovering, and although the restaurant was busy, it felt like we had the place to ourselves thanks to the spacious layout.
One small hiccup: we didn’t realize bread was served until we saw another table get it — not a dealbreaker, but definitely something that should be consistent. Drinks were decent, prices were standard for the area, and there’s an elevator for accessibility.
Pro tip: Parking can be a challenge, so plan ahead or rideshare, and definitely make a reservation. Overall, a solid dining experience — tasty food, great service, and a relaxed yet elegant setting.

We had a reservation at 6:45pm. The restaurant didn't seem so busy when we arrived. Our seating was outside in the enclosed patio. After we sat out waiter didn't come to the table til about 15 minutes after we sat. We ordered the calamari (I thought it would be a bigger portion) but tasted great. We also ordered the Cesar salad. There was 4 of us. We all ordered our main entrees. It took awhile to get water refills and the waiter only came by a few times. Overall the ambience was nice but wish the service was better.

Our food arrived at the temperature expected at the END of the meal, not at the beginning. One item was replaced immediately, probably by taking what had been cooked for another diner. The other dish was eaten barely warm because we had a time limit and could not wait for recooking. That dish was also low in flavor compared to the many other restaurants' versions I have eaten. Our server was nice enough but not there when we needed her. Several employees did not respond to my raised hand seeking help, so I went to the host stand who got our server to come to the table and start addressing things. I should not have had to do that, and the food should have come out HOT NOT MERELY WARM.
My family wanted Italian so we came there. We made the reservation and they sat us early and said they didn't open until 5. There weren't tons of options on the menu the food was pretty good nothing absolutely fabulous. It was myself and my two teens and we had two apps on happy hour and each a pasta I had a normal glass of wine and it was $200.00. I just didn't feel like it was a $200 dinner. Wish we loved it but didn't. Service wasn't the greatest besides filling out waters and the lady cleaning the table

The rooftop ambiance is amazing. However, the food was not good. I had the fish and black rice, and it's the worst fish I've ever eaten. It had no seasoning and no flavor.. I was so disappointed in the brunch menu.. if was 12 of us, and we all complained about the quality of the food.. such a shame.. I would never go back to this place..

As an Italian food enthusiast and Italian myself if you asked me “where to go for good American Italian restaurant” I would tell you officina but for authentic Italian restaurant I wouldn’t really recommend this place. The food is good but not top Italian. The service is good too, I’m disappointed with the ricotta filling for the cannoli, that’s a no. As a Sicilian it’s a no! You need to use a high quality ricotta and add orange zest to it. Also pistachio is pistacchio with double c because some menu items were in Italian some in English needs consistence. I’m very observant and critical when it comes to high end Italian food. Thank you
