We had a great experience here. We dined early, as we had evening plans, and the service was excellent. Although the weather was warm for October, we chose to eat inside as friends had warned us about insects on the patio. Our server was friendly and informative. My spinach ravioli tasted homemade, and was quite rich. My partner's seafood linguine had lots of seafood among the noodles, and the marinara sauce was an excellent choice.
A very disappointing experience. The food is not Italian, it is horrible. The service is poor. We ordered wine, they served us an open bottle that clearly was not the wine we ordered. Then the bill came and it was doubled. This is a rip off joint masquerading as a neighborhood restaurant. In other words, a rip off. Stay clear.
Family owned: excellent food, service at a reasonable price. Skip the high priced central DC foo-foo Italian spots. Travel 10-15min up Connecticut Ave to this neighborhood gem. Traditional Italian pasta, chicken and veal dishes all outstanding. And in nice weather, enjoy dining al fresco on the patio.
My wife, cousins, and I had a very nice relaxing brunch (after a Rock Creek Park hike) on Lillies' covered porch on a morning when storms were threatening. The location was great, and accessible by Metro and car-share. The brunch menu had lots of choices, and flexible options for a vegan diet. I really enjoyed their salad, which was adorned with artichoke and palm hearts, and I had a delicious bagel with a sun dried tomato spread.
My sisters and I were walking from the National zoo looking for a restaurant we could have a nice lunch. We came across Lilies and sat inside. Immediately we were taken by its wonderful decor, with fresh yellow rose bud on table. Service was prompt, very friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding. So much better than any average Italian restaurant!!! I will be back again next visit to DC.
Neighborhood spot with classic Italian cuisine. Small bar area. Staff is very friendly and prices are reasonable. Unfortunately the food is pretty mediocre. Overcooked and under seasoned veggies, overcooked pasta (nothing resembling al dente) and generally lacking flavor.
Both of our meals were well above average. Service was very good and the restaurant was busy. Full bar and great desert menu.
Lillies is the greatest. On a weekend family reunion, the family scheduled a cruise tour. Unfortunately, the cruise operator ran into maintenance problems and had to cancel the tour. Within 30 minutes, Lillies agreed to accommodate fifty hungry folk covering the age range from infant to octogenarian. Service was impeccable with just two staff on deck. The food, served family style, was quite delicious and fresh. Primarily pasta based to accommodate the crowd, but included chicken parmesan, eggplant parmesan, shrimp, vegetable lasagna, calamari, ravioli, tilapia, and then an assortment of cakes for dessert. Water was served with the meal, but the bar was open for personal orders. Standing ovation!!!!
We walked by this place on our way from the Metro to the zoo and went straight back after seeing the pandas! We were seated right away. Extensive menu, so many good options to chose from! Service was fine given that they were short staffed (and was explained to us).
We met a friendly friend for dinner and had planned to dine outside under their delightful arbor. However, the mosquitos were biting so in we went! We had a comfortable table for four. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us some time to catch up before we ordered. All the food was delicious with good sized portions. I ordered the lobster risotto and it was loaded and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their food. There were other diners inside as well but all were spread out. It was a great evening!

MOSQUITOS! In addition to the low to average quality food for high prices, the mosquitos on the patio were horrible! Daily happy hour is a terrible, Wednesdays is "half off" wine but only for the bottle, tiramisu is covered in cheap chocolate sauce the kind for bad ice cream, and the patio is full of mosquitos. Upside, they will give you bug spray to soak yourself in. Overall, if I could give in zero stars I would. I suggest you save yourself a waste of time, money and bug bites. I already disputed the charge on my credit card and I will never go back.
Visiting for first time and really enjoyed the overall experience. Superb T-bone steak, salmon and kids menu.A great surprise were complimentary deserts. Prompt service and safe setting. We’ll be back.
Fantastic veal scallopine. So tender and tastefeil Lovely sauce and linguine. Vegetables with a bite Service was very kind and helpful And they have fat tire on draft.
We recently moved to the neighborhood and thought we'd give it a try (before the pandemic!), because a friend told us it was good. Neither of us had anything good other than one of the desserts. The staff was very nice; that's the only reason it gets 2 stars.
This is a good spot for a quiet dinner where it is possible to have a long conversation without shouting or eavesdropping. Uncrowned even on a weekend night. Attentive waitstaff and an interesting menu.
