I went during their happy our today and had a great experience! I was feeling rather peckish and I appreciated that my server (I believe her name was Sukana?) thought my order was rather bold. The staff were warm, the food was hot (when necessary) and it was great to watch the restaurant get livelier as the hours went by.
I got the gougères, an order of fries, crème brûlée and the Vietnamese coffee milkshake. The gougères were light and pillowy, the rosemary scent hits you the second you take a bite then the truffle and Gruyère follow through. It was a little strong for my personal tastes but would be great for a cheese fan! The fries were thin and crispy, served with ketchup and mayo. Simple but well executed. The coffee shake was the star of the show for me, I came home thinking about it. The coffee flavor was strong without being overly sweet, I tend to find most cofffee-milk products leaning too far in their direction. Finally, the crème brûlée is one of the best I’ve had in the city so far. The custard was perfectly smooth without a lump or awkward texture in sight—just melts in your mouth leaving the taste of vanilla. The shallow dish provided the perfect ratio of crème to brûlée and the sugar was layered to perfection.
All in all, a great pick-me-up and I hope to be back soon! Only feedback is that they should use a highlighter on the payment link at the bottom of the receipt. I did not realize there was a link because there was no QR code to indicate I would be paying online and was wondering why no one picked up my card until I read the fine print. Highlighting this or adding a QR code would more clearly signal to diners that they’re meant to be paying online and not with staff!

This place has great food and very friendly service. I had the cheeseburger and was very impressed. I'll definitely be back.
The only thing is: It's located near Union Market, so parking is a challenge. But aside from that, I look forward to going back.

Came here to eat and catch up with some friends after a flight and it was great!
Food was amazing start with the escargot which was drenched in butter, perfect to dip your bread in afterwards. We all cleaned our plates and hardly had room for dessert but persevered to try the profiteroles and rice pudding both of which were fantastic.
Dirty martini was chefs kiss - one and done for me! Cute little matchbox to add to my collection on the way out but would highly recommend for a date night or intimidate dinner!!

I’ve given this place so many chances that I frankly just give up it’s always understaffed. They don’t treat the customer as well. It’s a shame because the food’s not bad but at the price point it’s just such a depressing experience.
My experience here was at 10/10. The service was attentive and the waiters well informed. The atmosphere was classic and the food was phenomenal. I had the steak frites, escargot and the crème brûlée, all 3 I couldn’t recommend enough!

We were visiting our daughter from over 3,000 miles away, and she was dying to try this restaurant. We arrived for our 6:45 reservation, and the restaurant was moderately packed. The food and wait staff service was excellent. We truly enjoyed our appetizers, meal and dessert. Three minutes after our dessert was removed from the table and our check arrived, the hostess staff came up to us and said they had a large party that needed our table. So we had to leave. We barely had an opportunity to finish our conversation that we were so looking forward to with our daughter. Usually restaurants allow you at least 1.5 hours for a dining experience. We fully understand it was a busy Friday night, and although the staff was pleasant, it really put a damper on our dining experience. We were asked for our table at 8:15, which means the reservation was really for 8pm for the large party. When accepting reservations, you all need to not to take away from others dining experiences. This restaurant needs to reconsider stacking so many patrons in their establishment. We felt rushed, and barely could digest our food before we were shuffled out. With so many dining options in DC, you should consider how patrons are treated even if they are a small party.

Love this place!! They have a $55 Restaurant Week menu that was so worth it. I highly recommed the escargots and the steak frites. Great cocktails. Lovely ambiance and perfect for a date night.

Definition of fixing what’s not broken is changing recipes when everything used to be SO dang on good. Example: Cesar salad dressing: It’s SUPER thick now & tastes like very meh regular and ordinary. Nothing to rave over anymore. Whatever they were doing before was INCREDIBLE & it’s what kept me coming back even if it’s a 45 min drive just to eat leaves. Pasta doesn’t have the best taste anymore. Neither does the calamari which use to be SOO DANG good. Everything now is just alright. There also was a tall black African gentleman who use to be the host & man…. If he still works there (I don’t think he does) his energy is very missed & the greeting into the space will never be the same without him. Please tell me he still works there. Turnover is definitely prominent which is why the food and drinks *may* change/tase different but overall I think this is still a hotspot place & they still do care you know? You guys better keep going here so they don’t close down, I’m crossing my fingers and waiting for everything to be how it used to be!!!!

Pastis DC was an excellent experience! The ambiance of the restaurant was very intimate. I loved that the tables and chairs were all unique, it made the place feel more special and less manufactured. The food itself was delicious! The escargot were so tender, its a must try! We got the restaurant week menu which was fairly priced and the M. Marmalade cocktail was really good! Overall a great place and we will be coming back!

Went to Pastis for dinner with a friend, and this place is definitely a hidden gem in Union Market. One of the highlights for me was the fresh bread — I loved it so much I kept asking for more.
The restaurant is bigger than it looks, and the ambience is super romantic, chill, and cozy. It’s a great spot for a date night or a relaxed dinner. I ordered the steak, which was cooked to perfection, and my friend really enjoyed the calamari.
I’d be curious to see if they offer a happy hour because this feels like a great place for that. Overall, it’s a cute date spot and a great opportunity to try a different cuisine. I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely come back. Great time!

I recently went to Pastis for brunch. My first impression with the hostess wasn’t great—we were ignored for a bit, and she seemed flustered even though the restaurant didn’t appear very busy. Once we were seated, however, our waitress was friendly and pleasant.
We ordered drinks and several appetizers: the escargots, tuna tartare, and crab and avocado—all of which tasted good. For our main dishes, we had the steak frites, boeuf bourguignon, beef Wellington for two, glazed carrots, and pommes frites. Overall, the food was flavorful, but the beef Wellington felt small for two people and was a little dry.
Service was also quite slow. For example, we ordered wine and didn’t receive it until almost after we had finished our meal. With some improvements in service and pacing, this could be a much better experience.

Went for the 2nd time to renew the experience. I asked a drink with tequila. It tasted everything other than tequila. I told the server it was not what I wanted. She did not offer anything better.

Excellent food and great drink menu. The staff was wonderful as well.
What a treat. We stumbled upon this restaurant on our first visit to Union Market in years, we recently heard great things about the Pastis NYC location and figured we might as well try getting a table! We were not disappointed. The staff was super attentive and welcoming and they were able to sit us within 5 minutes. atmosphere of this location is absolutely great and it's very busy lively not too loud while decorated it could be a bit overstimulating for some but for me it's the perfect vibe.
The seating was a bit packed in some places but there were plenty of bigger tables for larger groups to be seated without a problem. The bar was also massive but was completely full when we got there.
We shared the leek vinaigrette with the French onion soup and we were pleasantly surprised by the leek vinaigrette it was probably our favorite item of the meal. The French onion soup was extremely savory and more on the salty side but the delicious layer of cheese kind of helped mellow out that saltiness.
for our main entrée my wife and I shared the famous burger and it was absolutely divine 10 out of 10 recommend the burger I ordered a medium and it came out slightly more rare than I expected but it was still delicious and the patties were perfectly formed. the burger itself was very nicely dressed and it wasn't the least bit messy.
