What can I say? I found out about Compass Coffee the first time I had a Big Daddy coffee at the Takoma Busboys and Poets. I asked if I could buy the coffee. Nope. Had to go to Shaw (its only outlet at the time) to buy the coffee, which I did. Compass Coffee has made it easier to order over time, but the one thing they have NOT done is open a store closer than Shaw to where I live in Takoma Park. Oh, well. Not a lot of day traffic, I'm guessing. I would buy in person more often, but the stores do not exist where I usually am.

First and foremost, excellent service and a delicious iced matcha latte, but shame on the management of this place for requiring their workers to keep the entrance door propped open on a blazing-hot 99f degree summer day.
Went for our Breakfast in Compass Navy Yard DC for the second day running with our Mini Golden Doodle as we really enjoyed it yesterday. Today was a totally different and very disappointing experience. We Sat out of the way in the raised seating area with our dog and her lead got caught under her paw and she let out a small yelp. A member of staff came over and said he cannot have dogs barking in the shop. Considering Dogs are supposed to be welcome the member of staff clearly did not read the memo. Disgusting attitude very disappointed, we will not be returning and will ensure we let all are friends and neighbours know about our experience.

Lydell here Memorial Day morning made the darn best cup of hot chocolate I have ever had. Dang. 10 stars. Also I really liked their chocolate croissants warmed up.

I stopped by yesterday around 3:40 PM, just before closing time at 4:00. There was only one employee working, and it was pretty clear he wasn’t thrilled that we came in to order. He let us know right away that our drinks would be to-go since they were closing soon, which is understandable—but the tone and overall interaction felt rushed and unwelcoming. What stood out more was how he treated the customers who came in after us. Around 3:45, he started turning people away, at least six customers, despite the shop still technically being open. Why not close at 3:00 or 3:30 if they don’t customers till 4. It was disappointing to see for those people just wanting a little pick me up on their Saturday afternoon!

Ducked in here during a summer downpour and the barista was so sweet. She recommended some delicious drinks! They were about to close and gave us free pastries!
