Cheap food. That's the only positive. They deep fry the bacon...nasty. As far as service...don't get your hopes up. Fairly rude service, if you can call it service. And having a cat run through a restaurant isn't appealing to me.

To be fair, it is a diner. Not a fancy diner but a plain old hole in the wall kind of place where a neighborhood cat might visit.
I went to meet up with a friend who was at the Library of Congress. The prices are decent for where you are.
The food was fine. I’ve eaten at many restaurants, some with Michelin stars. Pete’s is okay. The food served a purpose. I was fed.
There are 2 Asian dishes I could identify, the Korean beef and rice dish and spring rolls. Everything else is plain American diner food. The beef dish comes with Kim Chi on top of salad greens.

I like diners like this. Friendly staff and quick service.
Great, non-fancy diner, and lovely cat.
In the midst of lots of more swanky places in the heart of the political centre of DC, this diner is a breath of fresh air.
Oh, and they have a lovely cat too!
Reminds me of home a bit too ☺️

I read in the Library of Congress every week, and I always eat lunch here. The Veggie Combo is great; a kind of Asian-inspired rice, fried vegetables, and tofu dish, everyday is uniquely different. I've also once in a while had an omelet or pancakes, and they are great. Such a warm friendly efficient place.

This is an old school diner. Inside a bit cramped but not complaining and they have outside seating. Service is very quick, they bring entire order at once. We had grilled cheese, fries, and cheeseburger. First was fries, then, GC, and then burger. All were good but burger could have used a bit of seasoning. And they are quick so you don't wait much time at all for your food. Recommend give a try.
Quick update, there is no sign.. but you seat yourself

Very rude and racist, over charges you if you’re black and gives you clear plastic cups instead blue ones everyone else gets. Women behind bar walks away when you’re talking. Do not go here unless u want to be discriminated against.

The food was good and I did enjoy that I was able to grab a quick bite of some basics before meetings nearby.
Now here is where the establishment falls short:
1. When I asked for water after mine was forgotten about, they grabbed my colleague’s (in front of me) and slid it over to me. What??? 😂
2. They forgot my food order, so I had to ask for it again and waited longer before I could eat.
Anyways, the food was not bad. I probably will return on a day I want to be treated like a second-class citizen or when I am in a rush.

While visiting DC, we were pleasantly surprised by a pretty good lunch. I had a cheeseburger and my husband had the chicken salad. I will say I was jealous because the chicken salad is not what one typically expects and I was sad I didn't order it instead. My husband thought it was very good! A nice spot to eat and not crazy busy like some of the other places around.
